ajpack Posted July 7, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 7, 2007 If you had your choice, would you book an aft cabin or a hump cabin on Radiance of the Seas? Any deck preferable? I've always wanted an aft, but now can't decide. How much noise do you hear form the Centrum on the port side of the hump?
Sue L Posted July 7, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 7, 2007 I loved the aft, we had 9260 with a 10 x 14 deck, 2 lounge chairs, 2 regular chairs and a small table. Though if you can get some of the port side humps they have huge balconies though I believe they are fully covered whereas the aft is only partially covered. This is the balcony for 9260
ajpack Posted July 7, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted July 7, 2007 Thank you. We just came back from a cruise on Jewel of the Seas and had a big balcony on deck 7...cabin 7038. It was partially covered, but I really liked that it was larger. I'm trying to decide for a South America Rio Carnaval cruise in 2009.

NYCRUISR Posted July 7, 2007 #5 Share Posted July 7, 2007 Try 9256 on the corner aft. It was really great for us.
ajpack Posted July 7, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted July 7, 2007 Thanks...I guess I'll try for the aft cabins...hopefully one is still available. The cruise isn't until Feb. 2009.
cb at sea Posted July 7, 2007 #7 Share Posted July 7, 2007 I will always take a "hump" cabin over an "aft" any day. The convenience alone is worth it! I don't need a HUGE balcony--it's only 2 of us! Now, we do book Js's, so the balcony is a bit larger than a regular cabin, but all in all, being close to the stairs and elevators is great! Makes finding your cabin while intoxicated a breeze! shipknotshore Posted July 7, 2007 #8 Share Posted July 7, 2007 On the Jewel we had an aft balcony #8172 (D1) with a wonderful balcony...looks same as pictured above. We really loved it and didn't mind the walk. (Except when I was in a hurry). On the Serenade we had the hump balcony #9078 (D1) which was just as large as the aft balcony. The glass wall on the aft balcony is angled (again, see picture in above post) which takes up balcony space where it is vertical on the hump making the entire balcony open for use which we really liked. We did hear noise from the Centrum music at night which wasn't really all that bothersome but there, nonetheless. I'd take either cabin again in a heartbeat. Aprille Posted July 7, 2007 #11 Share Posted July 7, 2007 Aprille, I LOVE your photo album! Thanks, Mom! :) One question: What the heck is in pictures 20 & 21????????????????? Are you talking about the last 2 photos or the 2 before that? Next to last photo is the loooooong hallway to 1100 and the last photo is of our safe with found booty under the mat (leftover C&A coupons). I laughed so hard when I found them. :D Among other coupons we were able to use we also cashed in the four $2 casino coupons. Plus we had four of our own for a grand total of $16! I can't believe some people don't use those!!! It's free money, man! :p If you're talking about the 2 photos before those (which would be 20 & 21) those are of the walk-in closet. Dorie7 Posted July 7, 2007 #12 Share Posted July 7, 2007 I usually prefer aft, however if a side view is important for some reason, then I'm not so sure. Aft cabins have shelter from the wind, are quiet, have huge balconies and a wonderful romantic atmosphere. They are wonderful!! Hump cabins are close to the main elevstors, but unless you have a mobility problem, that isn't really an issue. Both type cabins are great in differnet ways, Dorie
torpeedo Posted July 7, 2007 #13 Share Posted July 7, 2007 We have also stayed in D1 9078 and will have that cabin again in Feb 09 Jewel Panama Canal cruise. Has a huge balcony with two lounge chairs, two regular chairs and a table. Has a large shaded area and you have a great view forward and some backwards as well. ( wanted a good forward view for the canal). Very quiet cabin also. You can hear the centrum on occasion but faintly and it's over by 11 if there is anything going on down there. Central location, easy walk up to Windjammer's or down to centrum.. Have stayed in an aft corner cabin only once. Did not enjoy it. Too much sun and don't like always looking backwards. Too long a walk to elevators etc..
