Viking River Russian Vessel Upgrade

Received a newsletter from VR today. VR is upgrading the Viking Surkov for the Russian river cruises. Reads like the vessel will be gutted. Most of the new cabins will be 161 sq ft with hotel style beds and full private baths.

Viking Surkov will be upgraded over the winter for the 2008 season.

Wow! That's great news! If you have a standard cabin, it's more like cruising in a convent room than a small cruise ship. :)

Oh well, I'll be sailing on the Surkov next week. If only I'd known, I'd be sailing on it in 2008 instead of July 2007. TT

We booked this trip in the fall of 2006. We had no inkling of the planned refurbishment at that time. It shouldn't effect us as you know we are veteran travelers. I'll let you know how it goes once we return in a few weeks. TT

I'll let you know all about our trip. I might even send you a link to my pictures if you're interested. Talked with Mort & Toby, and we're planning a November cruise in 2008 to the Mediterranean on RCCL with them. The joys of retirement are many!
