Eighteen years old

Recommended Posts

I am bring 2 eighteen year olds on my next cruise. To be honest, I am a bit concerned as to how much they will have to do. We went on the same cruise when they were 16, but back then, they were young enough to be in adventure ocean. Now, I believe there are no "programmed activities" for them. Anyone who has been in the similar situation have any advice for me? Thank in advance.

Since there are two of them, they will have each other for back up. Even though there are no organized activities for 18 year olds, there are so many things that they can do! This includes: casino, disco, and everything else, except teen area (they're too old) and drinking (they are too young).

I brought my then 20 year old daughter on a cruise a few years ago... she had a blast... the first night, after dinner, we all went down to the casino.. in a way it was funny... all the young adults standing behind tables, ostensibly watching the gamblers, but really scoping out the others their ages... and the parents lingering about 10 feet away, keeping an eye on our kids... and before you know it, the kids started talking, groups formed, and off they went with new friends... and yes, i haven't let my daughter forget that on a 7 night cruise, i got back to the cabin AFTER her on 5 nights:D

My son is 16 and we are going on our sixth cruise. The best advice is do not worry about what they will do. Leave them alone. They will meet friends and party on their own. The more you interfere with them the worst time you will have. Teens are known to stay up late and sleep late. If you can hanlde that they will have a great time. Which ship are you gong on and are they boys or girls?

I was 18 on my last cruise 10 years ago. I went with my family after high school graduation.

I spent a lot of time on the ship just relaxing by the pool, chilling out. I was usually was back in the cabin reading before everyone else came back.

I did however go on more varied excusions than my family during the day (hiking, snokelling, scuba etc.) as my family was more of the "sedate scenic tour" type.

I went with my dad to the casino a few times, but mostly because he wanted to get the free drinks one night. We're not really gamblers. But it was fun being able to go into the casino. Might have been fun to try one of games (blackjack, etc.) if I'd have known how to play.

I think there is plenty for teenagers to do.

im 20. i cant wait to go on my next cruise. the last one i went on i was turning 17. its my favorite thing in the world to do. i think you should be more worried that they are going to get addicted and ask you over and over when you can go again!! (thats what i did to my parents) we used to always cruise because it was the perfect vaction for 3 generations...we were all happy! if they are on facebook tell them to search the ship you are going on on there....there are groups of high school and college age students!!

My 18 yo son and I cruised this past spring, during spring break time. I never saw him as he had the best of both worlds. He spent his time with the other high school students and behaved but had the benefits of being an adult.

It is a shame that RCCL doesn't have a group based on whether or not older teens are still in high school. They associate with 16 and 17 year olds all the time at home and a lot of them want to be with their peers not college students.
