nucruznAZ Posted July 10, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 10, 2007 I was wondering if anyone could offer advice on the transportation options from Anchorage to Whittier. I understand there is a train ride, an independent bus ride and a Carnival bus ride. Are there any pros and cons to any of these? Thanks in advance. Budget Queen Posted July 10, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 10, 2007 There is no difference in the scenery between the two. With the Alaska RR- you get in Whittier in time for a glacier boat tour- highly recommended. Some buses as well will have no problem getting you there. Choose based on your priorities. gambit57 Posted July 10, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 10, 2007 It'll basicaly boil down to cost and convenience of time. They all have their own schedules. See which one works best for you. Do a search to see which independents have the best rep for picking you up on time. There's one independent that seems to get universal praise if their pickup/drop off time works for you. Otherwise, the reports on all the others are a bit of a mixed bag. If you're arriving that day and going straight from the airport to the cruise ship, after what I've gone through, I'd say the convenience of Carnival's transportation is prolly worth it if they don't charge you more than $60/person.
