Needed...Your Most Romantic Moment On A RCI Cruise??

Recommended Posts

We're starting our 25th anniversary cruise planning and find ourselves wondering if RCI is the right cruiseline for this special cruise! Don't worry...we are huge RCI supporters and have had great times (including romantic ;) ) on all our cruises but this one has to beat them all! We welcome all the examples and encouragement you can give us! :D ;) :D

this may not be what you are looking for. But while I was getting a lemonade, DH had the pool band play our wedding song when I returned. When it started to play, he got up from the lounge chair and asked me dance. So there we were in our bathing suits dancing on the pool deck. I almost started to cry. You can't plan romantic moments, they just happen. BTW we just celebrated 23 years!

Our 1st cruised was on our 25th anniversary. I wanted to go, she didn’t. My wife was scared to death; she suffers from Closter phobic and motion sickness. By the 3rd night she decided we have to do this again. On the upper decks, after dinner under the stars alone.:)

My husband and I have been on a few cruises and I do not think that we have ever had a romantic moment.

I was thinking the same thing!!

We have had good times and fun cruises but could never look back on any as a "romantic moment."!!!

Married to him for 40 years.

It's formal night.

We are sitting at a table in the Colony Club.

The music is playing.

I look at him...just a glance.

And right at that moment....

I saw him smiling at me...that shy, sweet smile.

My heart started racing like I was 16 years old again.

He leaned forward and said, "you're so beautiful."

Whew! I get chills when I recall it. The old man can still make my heart race.... that hasn't happened in a long time, but I'm sure glad it did!!!

Wow. I was thinking almost the opposite. Not that there is any one particular romantic moment that sticks out, but the whole experience seems romantic. Like I said, nothing big, but a hand-in-hand stroll around the deck . . . sitting in the Viking Crown listening to the music/having a drink/having an adult conversation before picking the kid up from AO . . . Dressing up in our fancy clothes and having a dance together at the Captain's reception . . .

Awwww... made my heart race!!! :) I have to say that on our first cruise (for our honeymoon) 13 years ago we decided to stay on the ship while the rest went off to the casinos on land. We were lying together on a lounge chair intertwined (we were newlyweds and could fit!) looking up at the caribbean sky with the warm winding blowing on a ship to seem to be just ours. Still my favorite memory...

Me too!! In fact I immediately assumed that bplazo was being sarcastic, and wondered why there was no smiley. ;) But maybe she really is serious? I guess it just goes to show that cruising can mean a thousand different things to different people. :)

CruizinPat, you mentioned wondering whether RCI is the right fit for this occasion. We're also big RCI fans, but I have to say that I might consider another line for this occasion. Maybe a more adult-oriented experience with fewer kids onboard? We had great experiences with both Celebrity and Holland America, and they both have some great romance-enhancing perks that you don't find with RCI. Just a thought. :)

My most romantic memory?

This was on Princess not RCCL but could have easily been. On our 20th anniversary cruise......I was summoned by a crew member from the casino to the pool deck where my husband had arranged to sing with the Pool Deck Band for our anniversary. What did he sing to me??

Unchained Melody. :) He got a standing ovation and I got the envious looks.....It was sweet!

Hi - Ours was on a Blue Lagoon Cruise in Fiji. It was Valentine's Day and we were eating dinner on the beach under the most beautiful sky.

My husband carved a heart with our initials in it on a coconut and the wait staff presented it to me at dinner. A bit corny but oh so sweet.

Ours was on a Celebrity ship, but it was just perfect. We were celebrating our second anniversary.

My husband participated in the King of the Galaxy contest, and they needed a female volunteer so I said okay. Well, they needed a volunteer because one of the tasks required of the King was to sing to his Queen! He went down on one knee in front of the entire pool deck and sang an old Elvis classic,"Can't Help Falling in Love".

I cried :)

The most romantic moment we had on an Royal Caribbean Cruise is when Captain Rune Lokling (of the Radiance) put whip cream on my wife's face during the cake decorating. It may not have been romantic but it was hilarious.

Was your wife and Capt Rune having a decorating contest in the Atruim?

It was one of the most fun events I've ever seen planned on any of their ships!

When we were getting dressed for dinner one night, DH told me he was ready, and to meet him down in Vintages (the wine bar on the Navigator).

When I got there, he had ordered me a glass of wine and had it sitting there on the table for me. When I reached for it, I saw that he had wrapped the chain of a diamond necklace around the stem! He had bought it for me in St. Maarten that day, and surprised me with it!

Very romantic! :)

Couples rasul! We did this on our honeymoon onboard Adventure of the Seas. It is a spa treatment (not available on all ships from what I hear) that consists of you, your SO, lots of mud, creams, steam, and a shower to wash it all off. It is wonderful!

Every night, when we FINALLY get back to the cabin, we sit out on the balcony, hold hands, and just talk. We've been married for thirty years, and I can think of no one I'd rather be with than that wonderful DH of mine.

He DID really surprise me once with a truly romantic moment - We were sitting in the theater, waiting for the show to begin. The Krooze Komics were milling about with their microphones, chit-chatting with passengers. DH asked to use the microphone, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him all over again. We'd been married about twentyseven years at the time, but I took him up on it! We flew to Las Vegas a few months later and renewed our vows.

Gene and I were taking a walk after dinner on the deck of the Sovereign. No one else was around. The wind whipped our hair while faint silvery clouds scudded overheard.

In the distance, we could see another cruise ship, probably a Disney ship, as we chugged toward Nassau.

All of a sudden the clouds moved from over the face of the moon and there were stars everywhere we looked. Moonlight slivered down onto the deck turning her into a ghost ship. Gene hugged me and I was so happy. A perfect moment in time and apropos of our lives. A few clouds, but all parted and let the silver-cool light shine through.

For the OP the packages available on Princess for special occasions are nicer and but after sailing RCI we would continue to make our own magic and travel with RCI.

That being said. I have been married to the same man for 31 years and due to the nature of his work, he travels most of the year. We can find romance whenever and wherever we are together, most likely due to the fact that abscence truly does make the heart grow fonder and you tend to not sweat the small stuff. My sweetheart and I love to go on walks during which he has taken my hand and danced me into the middle of the street under the stars.

On our last cruise I wore a new gown to the first formal night. When I finished dressing and doing my hair he stood and looked at me and simply said wow. When I asked wow what....he told me that I just keep getting better and better and he would marry me all over again. The truth is he looked even better in his RL suit, and I would marry him again in a heartbeat. This was only one of many many moments on this cruise that were truly wonderful and romantic. The cruise was to kill the pain of both of us turning an ungood number this year. The physical changes caused by the years don't seem to matter, the two hearts seemingly entwined forever do.

Thank you OP

This was such a wonderful trip down memory lane!

I'm with you. We love cruising alone, spending our days on the beach together, walking around the ship hand-in-hand after dinner, relaxing in the lounges with a drink before dinner, sitting on the balcony before going to bed, DH bringing me a sugar-free cookie while I am working out in the gym, getiing dressed up on formal nights, and best of all - him telling me I am the most gorgeous woman on the ship - can't get better than that. We celebrated our 25th on Sovereign last Oct and had a blast.

We enjoy cruising with my sisters/husbands, but the best times of our lives are just being alone and spending pretty much 24/7 with each other. We love it.:)
