Fort Lauderdale hotel

We shall be on the Voyager Nov 19 sailing and plan to spend 3 nights in Ft Lauderdale before the sailing. Can someone suggest good hotel . Are there some near the large shopping mall the cruiseships are near? Thanks BobinVan

There is a new St. Regis in Ft. Lauderdale which looks to be very nice. I will be staying there one night post cruise but not until November.

Not sure where large mall is -- however -- we stayed at Embassy Suites -- it was lovely and includes breakfast and some cocktails in the evening. It is within walking distance of a market, liquor store, some restaurants (Irish pub across the street is fun with good Irish/English food at reasonable prices). They have free shuttle service to the ship. Ft. Lauderdale isn't a large place -- the airport is a short taxi ride to either the hotel or dock area.:)

There isn't a large mall anywhere near the port. The Galleria is about a 15-minute drive north, and the Sawgrass Mills (huuuge mall) is about 20-minutes west.

There's a Doubletree Guest Suites hotel right next to the Galleria Mall and not too far from the port. We had some friends who stayed there in April and thought it was great. I think they said it was about $15 for the taxi from the hotel to the port.

I'd suggest you check the "East Coast Departures" board and check for Bequia's thread - Map of Ft. Lauderdale hotels. Should you have questions about specific hotels, you'll find she's a wealth of information and is very willing to offer advice on anything in Lauderdale. Her information is right up to date and if you're not familiar with the area, she can advise which areas to avoid as well.

The Atlantic-Starwood is right on the beach and about 10 minutes north of the dock. The Galleria Mall is a long 4 block away & a hike over the inter-coastal bridge. Last time I got the best rate by direct booking through internet special.
