arubacassie Posted August 12, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 12, 2007 Can some nice person tell me where there are good restaurants near the Pan Pacific Hotel? Hear the Pan Pacific is really expensive for dinner. Also wondering about breakfast. All walking distance, close by please. Thank you in advance! Kathy53 Posted August 12, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 12, 2007 A new restaurant just opened in the train station called "Transcontinental". It is owned by the same proprietor as "Steamworks". Both are good restaurants. They are located on Water Street - just before heading into Gastown. Enjoy!
vickie_bernie Posted August 12, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 12, 2007 The Transcontinental is beautiful, but can't say how the food is haven't gotten there to eat yet. But there are many good restaurants in Gastown, or you can venuture up to Robson street and the choices are endless. In the lower level of Waterfront hotel (just across the street) is a food court and will be busy with workers in the morning, but can get you a quick bite. Rare Cruise Junky Posted August 12, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 12, 2007 Not sure about your price range, but Thursday night we ate at Joe Fortes and it was outstanding!! Our party of 5 all had seafood and everything was just getting raves.
arubacassie Posted August 12, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted August 12, 2007 How far away are these restaurants? Thank you!
Rare Cruise Junky Posted August 13, 2007 #6 Share Posted August 13, 2007 The Transcontinental would be very close to Canada Place, Joe Fortes is at Robson & Thurlow. So about 6 blocks total.
TeaBag Posted August 13, 2007 #7 Share Posted August 13, 2007 Aqua Riva is beside the Pan Pacific and looks out on the water. We liked it the last time we were there which is a few years ago now. http://www.aquariva.com/ If you want inexpensive, Spaghetti Factory is in Gastown, as well as many other more expensive restaurants, maybe 6 blocks walk. As has been said, endless possibilities on and near Robson.

We liked it the last time we were there which is a few years ago now. http://www.aquariva.com/ . I've found Aquariva has declined considerably. We used to eat there all the time and recommend it all the time, last time we were there it was awful, even the salmon was so overcooked it was like cardboard. If a Vancouver restaurant can't get Salmon right they should lock the doors.
ChatKat in Ca. Posted August 13, 2007 #9 Share Posted August 13, 2007 I vote for Joe Fortes too. We ate there before last year's Alaskan adventure and it was excellent. And there is a Starbucks attached to the Pan Pacific for a quick breakfast.
