Emmabelle Posted August 19, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2007 When I look at the deck plans for the Mariner, there is a white blank space between cabins 8563 and 8575, and 8263 and 8575. I'd like to book connecting cabins, but was wondering what was in that blank space. Anyone know?
cb at sea Posted August 20, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2007 That's probably storage space, or "mechanical equipment" in that area. Obviously, the 2 rooms you mentioned DON'T connect! You shouldn't have to worry about noise from that area, tho. If you'll notice, that space runs through deck 8 and below, so it's more than likely a conduit for the mechanics of the ship. vmom Posted August 20, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 20, 2007 We had a cabin on the Explorer next to that space. I never did know what it was. There was a large span between our room and the one after it. No noise or anything. I figured it must be for ship tech stuff such as electricity or vent type ducts. Nothing to be concerned about. OHCruisinDad Posted August 20, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 20, 2007 There are crew starilways, freight elevators, mechanical rooms, laundry storage and housekeeping equipment storage rooms and more scattered in and around the interior cabins, including the PR's. We usually book adjoining PR cabins as there are several sets available. Check the deck plans as there are small symbols that denote the various special features of the various cabins including the adjoining pairs of cabins. Good luck with your cabin selection. :)
Schplinky Posted August 20, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 20, 2007 I've had the same room on deck 6. The area next door is a crew elevator and maid's closet. We never heard any noise through the wall.
Emmabelle Posted August 20, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted August 20, 2007 Obviously, the 2 rooms you mentioned DON'T connect! I was looking at booking 8561 and 8563 which are connecting cabins and I was just wondering what was next to 8563. :) Thanks everyone, I figured it was mechanics, thanks Schplinky and vmom for reassuring me about noise levels. :)
