Question about how to dress at the shows

Trying to figuare out what to wear to the shows every night? My brother and I will be on the Conquest 9/5. We are doing early dinner, 1) to be ready for the midnight buffet!! 2) To be able to choose which show to go to (early or late). Will it be ok to wear shorts to the show. I know that most people will be dressed up because they going after dinner. Or do I need to stick with dress pants that I am going to wear to dinner.

Back in the day the cruiselines requested "no shorts after 6" regardless of what the evening's dress code was.

 

One vote against shorts for the sole reason that the show lounges can be COLD!

Totally agree with tef43! Shows are generally 'cold'..

Sweaters/coats are sometimes a necessity..

And, heaven forbid, 'jeans are legal'! :cool:

On the 7/11/2004, sailing of Conquest, the lower level of the main lounge was absolutley freezing! We sat in the balcony one night and noticed it was rather warm. I walked through the lower level that same night, and it was still freezing on the lower level.

 

Later in the week, we noticed several people using their Carnival beach towels as blankets in that lounge.

 

But, how knows, maybe they've fixed that by now...

They run the AC 24/7 so it will always be cold in the showrooms. I always take a light sweater - that I can wrap over my shoulders when the show is over. I bought a small fleece throw that I'm going to throw in for the next cruise.

We were on the Conquest 11/03 and it was freezing in the showroom.

There is no dress code in the lounges. Wear what you like.

THe shows dont have a dress code. Neither do the punges/bars or casino. At one time on our last cruise we saw a lot of people in Pajamas.. i think it was a private party having a pajama party--how fun was that.

at least pajamas could have some SEX appeal to them.....thats way more than i can say about all the people that change out of their dress clothes and into jean shorts and knee high socks with gym shoes.......do cruisers NOT go out to clubs back home where they live???....isnt it fair enough to expect people to dress up as nice when hitting the carnival clubs as they would going to nice clubs back home?......i dont know what kinda clubs yall have back home, but the places ive been i seldom see people dressed as dorky as many of the carnival people do at nights......the happening clubs get filled with happening people wearing happening outfits......if carnival passengers dress just as geeky when goin out back home, id hate to see what kinda clubs/bars/shows that they be hangin at........if you arent well enough off to buy some kewl clothes, than you prolly cant afford to be cruisin....save ur darn money up before cruising and buy a proper wardrobe:)......opinions given with LOVE:)

Many people dress down at dinner and of all the Carnival Cruises I have taken, I seen many even in shorts right after dinner and attending shows that way. There is no dress code. Lounges can get chilly just keep that in mind and be prepared to bring something for that. Better to have something than be sorry.

We have about 12 pages of "getting to know you" so at least we'll all know a few people on board!!! :)

Ditto! We are all on vacation people! We travel with a crowd of anywhere from 8 to 12 people (this is our 14th cruise) and no one in our group has ever been offended by anyone's dress code! Don't you folks realize that is the beauty of cruising--you will never see most of these people again?!? Just relax and enjoy yourself--that is the code of the seas!

all i can say is a lot of yall much be country folk....cause here in the big city we worry about what we wear:).....as well as worrying about what others wear.....how do you think Joan Rivers show has gotten so famous on E tv?.....where she grades the outfits of the STARS......because a good number of people CARE about what they are wearing as well as what others wear....and when you see a really smokin hot dressed chick you acknowledge her sassy style....same as you diss on those who look like they dressed in the dark........ soooo many people get judged every second of every day based on their looks...cmon now, we all know this is the case as it be.....its all sweet to be sayin that we dont care whos fat and whos skinny but its plain ole fact that the sexy people are gonna get the perks of life....the door will be held longest for the sexiest chick.....two applicants equally qualified the bombshell will land the job over the ugly step sister.....great looking people will be treated differently from dorkos!.....this is life as we know it here in the big city...God bless it

Just because someone changes into shorts after dinner does not mean they are "dorky". On my last cruise, everyone at my dinner table changed into more comfortable clothing to go to the shows and clubs. Personally, I wear scrubs every day so dressing up is fun to do once in a while but it isn't very comfortable for long periods of time when you're not used to wearing heels. Also, I am from the country and yes, bars and restaurants around here are VERY casual. It seems you could be the one who looked dorky around here!

All I know is.......I have never seen James Bond in a casino or dinner in anything less then a tux !!
