CruisinfromNapoli Posted September 6, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2007 what are your thoughts on room service tipping? Is it included in the $10 pp/per day total tip? If not, how much is fair to tip?
lvtotrvl1 Posted September 6, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 6, 2007 It is not included in the 10 pp per day. Really depends what you are ordering. I usually tip $3-$6.
megr1125 Posted September 6, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2007 Not included....depends on what you order, how many people, etc. I don't think I've ever tipped more than $5 an that was for breakfast.
Rare Cruise Raider Posted September 9, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 9, 2007 We checked at the purser's desk on several cruises, just to be sure, and they have ensured us that the room service tip is included in the $10 pp. So, we were surprised to see that there was an line on the room service tag to sign and add an additional tip. We were talking to our waitress in the dining room and she mentioned that her husband was also onboard and was part of the room service wait staff. She assured us, and she would have every reason not to, that the room service staff was part of the $10 pp per day tip pool. Which is actually true?? (Celebrity takes the questions out of it...your room steward usually delivers your food. We just tip him/her very well at the end of the cruise). jb008 Posted September 9, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 9, 2007 I seem to remember tip being included in the price of "extra" cost room service items e.g. chocolate dipped strawberries <can someone plz confirm/deny that> I usually added a few dollars per delivery of standard room service stuff. I figure a few dollars extra can't add up to more than 20 or so dollars extra on the total cost for me, but it means a lot to the wait staff. Pia1913 Posted September 9, 2007 #6 Share Posted September 9, 2007 It is customary to tip for extra/special services. Having someone deliver food to your cabin fits that catagory. Whether or not room service is included in the $10/day, a special delivery merits a tip. Pia
crusdiva Posted September 9, 2007 #7 Share Posted September 9, 2007 While it may be included, we tip the person who delivers from room service. We don't put in on the form we tip with cash. The real reason Princess has started asking for a signature is to confirm delivery.
MaryPoppinz Posted September 9, 2007 #8 Share Posted September 9, 2007 It is not included in the 10 pp per day. Really depends what you are ordering. I usually tip $3-$6. All waiters are included in the $10/pp/pday. That said, most people do tip an additional few dollars for the convenience of having their meal delivered to the cabin. crusinpeg Posted September 9, 2007 #9 Share Posted September 9, 2007 The 10.00 per day seems more than reasonable...we always tip extra for room service usually a buck or two. When DH orders a beer he does not tip since that is included in the price.
Casshew Posted September 9, 2007 #10 Share Posted September 9, 2007 I believe it is optional and many passengers do not tip extra. I take a pile of single us dollars with me and tip 2 - 5$ depending what I have ordered.

pris993 Posted September 10, 2007 #15 Share Posted September 10, 2007 Tipping a few dollars in cash makes a lot of sense. There is nothing like immediate rewards for motivation. We often find we have the same folks deliverying to us, not our cabin steward, so suspect a tip does not hurt. :)
