Tipping on river cruises?

We will be taking our first river cruise in the spring. We will be sailing on the Amadeus Royal. How is the tipping handled? Is it the same as on a ocean cruise? Do you sit at the same table every night or is it free style? Can you charge the tips to your ship board account or do you need cash? Anyone been on the Amadeus Royal? What is it like?

What cruise line is Amadeus Royal with?

 

I know it is not part of the Amadeus Waterway line which makes it confusing.

The Amadeus Royal is owned and operated by the Austrian company Lueftner Cruises www.lueftner.at. Gate1 has a partial charter. So check reviews from Gate1 cruises (last ship they used was the MS Bolero).
