beccadoby Posted September 23, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2007 I need some serious help! Tell me which ship you would choose and why. All 3 are 7 nighters and leave from Miami. I am leaning towards Carnival BUT we have not sailed Norwegian before so, I would LOVE your input! Carnival Liberty Carnival Valor Norwegian Dawn :) PLease keep in mind this is for a family with 3 kids - ages at time of cruise will be 16, 11, and 8 :)
BrendaB1 Posted September 23, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2007 I've done both Liberty & Valor & would choose Liberty in a heartbeat. Beautiful ship & classiest Carnival ship so far. No desire here to try NCL.
deborah grimes Posted September 23, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 23, 2007 I have not been on any of these ships, but in 47 days my family of 18 of us will be on the Liberty! Ya Hoooooo!
sunlover5 Posted September 23, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 23, 2007 Only been on Liberty, but won us over!! Going on her again in March!!!!!!!!
pholter Posted September 23, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 23, 2007 Do they all have the exact same itinerary?? That's how I would choose my ship. I have not voted yet.
beccadoby Posted September 23, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted September 23, 2007 I have not been on any of these ships, but in 47 days my family of 18 of us will be on the Liberty! Ya Hoooooo! Cant wait for the TR- Liberty is way ahead in the poll. Do they all have the exact same itinerary?? That's how I would choose my ship. I have not voted yet. Not the same exact but this is for Spring break '09 (so I have a set week) and these ships have the best itineraries for that week. So, we would be happy with any of the 3 ship's ports of call. Also, not much difference in price...very close...about $40 per person difference. So, now, to find out which SHIP is the best! Including the facts about kids and teen clubs, food, service, decor, pools, ect.......
caribbean dreams Posted September 23, 2007 #7 Share Posted September 23, 2007 I don't really care for the decor on the Valor, although the ship is clean and the cruise is usually great. Have no desire to go on NCL. LOVE the Liberty, very classy, everything a cruise should be.
pe4all Posted September 23, 2007 #8 Share Posted September 23, 2007 Liberty is "newest" ship next to Freedom. Had a blast on it. Valor was great, too. Depends on itinerary for the week. You'll probably make your own fun, either ship. My kids love Carnival - kids programs are pretty good, though your older one will probably go to the Club meet and greet, and then split off as he meets his own group of kids to hang with. Yes, we always seem to "loose" him on cruises. Gone for a week, and see him again in the car on the ride home.

eeyore78 Posted September 23, 2007 #11 Share Posted September 23, 2007 We sailed on the Liberty last May and we'll be on the Valor next week. I believe their layouts are similar (being sister ships) but the Liberty has an outside movie theatre which I thoroughly enjoyed. I liked snuggling up with a blanket on a deck lounger under the night stars. Beautiful!!! I'll let you know how the Valor compares when we get back. Margienj Posted September 23, 2007 #12 Share Posted September 23, 2007 We were on the Liberty in March and had a blast. It was fantastic. I loved the ship, the outside movie theatre was great (popcorn too). The decor is beautiful. We were a group of 10 with ages ranging from 17 to 86. There was somethingfor everyone. The kids on the ship seemed to have a ball with the Camp Carnival. It looked like they had all known each other forever. My youngest has been a fan of Club 02 since our first cruise. Now she is old enough to hang with us old folks in the casino and lounges. If you want to see pictures you can go on my link in my signature. Happy cruising wherever you decide to go. It will be great as long as you are all together and at sea:)

beccadoby Posted September 24, 2007 Author #14 Share Posted September 24, 2007 I'll let you know how the Valor compares when we get back. Cant wait to hear the comparison- keep in touch Norweigen doesnt interest me, we have done the Valor and loved it I would do the Liberty if i had my choice I have been researching all the ships- Norweigen has a cool themed pool for the kids. Still, Liberty is still WAY in the lead. Liberty and Valor are both really nice

hockeyluver Posted September 24, 2007 #17 Share Posted September 24, 2007 My kids are past the theme stage and they really enjoy going to the Club 02 activities does Norweigen offer anything for the teen scene? (16 and 18) Oldest is pretty excited she gets to go to the casino now
Kurbanfan Posted September 24, 2007 #18 Share Posted September 24, 2007 You mentioned that the itineraries are similar but didn't say what they were? That would be a big factor for me.
flowerchild Posted October 23, 2007 #19 Share Posted October 23, 2007 I voted for the NCL Dawn because I love the Freestyle Dining concept. I find it easier to cruise with kids when you are not bound to a set dining time.
abitaturbodog Posted October 23, 2007 #20 Share Posted October 23, 2007 Yes, we always seem to "loose" him on cruises. Gone for a week, and see him again in the car on the ride home. LOL! I can see this in my future too! I have two pre-teen boys and they still hang with mom and dad on cruises, but I know that those days are numbered. We've been on Valor and loved her! But if it were my family, I'd go Liberty because she's so new and everyone has great things to say.
gusandgidgetsmom Posted October 23, 2007 #21 Share Posted October 23, 2007 Loved the Liberty. We took our 14 yo grandson. He loved it. Sailed on the Valor when she first came out. Enjoyed it but still love the Liberty. Have been on NCL but was a while ago. I will take Carnival's food and fun anyday.
scopewest Posted October 23, 2007 #22 Share Posted October 23, 2007 Check the NCL boards to see what they say. Both lines have their good/bad points.
shargurl Posted October 23, 2007 #23 Share Posted October 23, 2007 I picked the Valor because of the intinerary...
