Differences between Spirit class and Conquest class

Obviously the Conquest-class ships are quite a bit bigger. What other major differences are there between these classes? Which class do you prefer?

I'm looking at Western Caribbean on both Legend and Valor with a very similar itinerary, so the big difference is the ship.

Thanks.

I have sailed on both types, the spirt in slimer and longer with about 2200 passengers. i do think that the spirt class is better ship less crowded, but only has 1 restaurant, but the ice cream bar at the back of the ships is this best ( only open on sea days)which has rael ice cream not available on other class ships

The spirit class ships have a promenade deck that goes around the entire exterior of the ship. It is awesome. You can also go forward to aft on the public decks rather than going up and down to go forward to aft. It is much easier to navigate your way around.

spirit class......easier to navigate deckplan (as mentioned), less crowded BUT have a rep for a more subtle nightlife. You can still find things to do. Obviously the crowd on board will also be a factor.

Standard balcony cabins are similar between the ship class.........aft wraps on the Conquest, Triumph and Destiny class are 9A.....on the spirit class they are cat 11(?).

http://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/Main/shipscarnival.php you can use part of this without a membership..........click on the ship and then you can view public rooms and deck plans.

Personally I love the spirt class, but am booked to go to the Miracle and Glory...............just get me on board, I know there are things I like better on one class vs the other.........but they are all good!!!

The Spirit-class ships also have two of the best value cabins afloat. Look for the 5A obstructed view and the 7A obstructed balconies. Great value for the money. I also like the promenade deck arrangement.

What icecream bar are you talking about? I never new that one existed. I'll be on the Pride in a few days and would love to try it.

Thanks.

I'm not much help but I thought I would pipe in here and say that I don't understand what ship goes with what class either.
Go to unofficialcarnivalwiki.com and click on the link for ship classes.

As far as difference. While it's true the Spirit is easier to navigate it's not like the Conquest is hard to......

I would say I miss the extra food choices you have with the Conquest. I cruise to sample everything :D .

What food choices are there on Conquest-Class that you don't have on Spirit-Class?

Also, with so many more people, do the Conquest ships feel more crowded, or are the people spread around enough that the feel is similar?

Well, bar is a stretch, but it is a table with a lot of flavors of Ice Cream and toppings with a hot guy serving you. It usually only lasts about an hour or so, but it is nice.

Every Carnival ship serves the same foods in the dinning room, the Supper Club as well as the Lido Deck. There may some that do not have a Sushi Bar, but I can not think of any other difference.

I know that the Paradise and the Elation didn't have a supper club. They also didn't have a fish and chips place or an Oriental station at the buffet. They are older ships, though. I believe that both Spirit-Class and Conquest-Class ships have all of these things. Am I mistaken?

The Spirit Class ships have a supper club with the same menu as on the Conquest Class ships.

They don't have a Fish & Chips station at the casual dining. I'm not sure about the Oriental food. I know they have it, but I'm not sure if it's there every day or just occassionaly.

Yup, there is an Asian station. :)

The structure of the two types of ships is also very different.

Conquest has 2 decks of staterooms, a few mixed decks of dining rooms/lounges and staterooms then a deck entirely of lounges, shops, casino, etc, then about 3-4 more decks of nothing but staterooms and at the top the spa, pools and buffet areas.

The Spirit class on the other hand starts at the bottom with 2 decks of pure lounge, dining room, etc areas...then about 5 decks of nearly all staterooms, then two decks at the top with the same spa, buffet, pool areas.

Spirit-class has a much nicer Lido deck - the aft deck, which is open and has an adult pool, is awesome! I also liked the outside promenade. However, all in all I prefer the Conquest class. I found the lounges on the Legend to be oddly placed and I had much more difficulty finding a seat in the Lido restaurant on Legend at prime times. I'm also a fan of 6:15 dining, which is not available on Legend since there's only one dining room with 5:45 and 8:00 seatings. None of my quibbles would stop me from sailing Legend again, though.:)

I have been on both classes. I love the Valor. It is a great ship with a great crew! That being said, I have been on the Miracle and Pride, both spirit class. I like the spirit class better. The lido deck is all one level which I prefer. Also, as previous posters said, it is so cool to be able to walk around the whole ship on the outside. Love that promenade deck! The wraps on Spirit are cat 11 as previous poster said. This is because they are suites with separate rooms ! Been in 4237 on the Pride. Personally, I think it is the best cabin in all of Carnivals fleet.

As was mentioned, the true difference is the design of the ship. She is a Panamax ship, designed to be able to cross from the Caribbean to the Pacific via the Panama Canal.

The lock chamber size in the canal is 110 feet wide by 1000 feet long. The Spirit Class ships are 106 feet wide and 960 feet long. So, you can see that the ship fairly well maxes out the lock. Anything much wider and/or longer simply won't fit!

Spirit class for sure! The Lido deck is fabulous with 2 pools back to back and another at the aft - all on one deck. Big, open, spacious public areas. The sports bar on the Conquest ships is a joke - tiny. On Spirit class roomy, lots more tables and oceanview booths - and lots of TVs. Same with all the bars. There might be a few more on Conquest class, but there much smaller. The whole ship design is choppy. You have to go to the middle elevators, down to the 5th floor, get off, walk to the end of the ship, go down the stairs to the 3rd floor, just to get to the dining room. The spirit class ships have a open, flowing deck design.

Just came back from Glory and won't do anything but Spirit class again.

BUT NO MATTER WHAT - IT'S A CRUISE AND IT'S ALL GOOD! :D

Cheers,

Lisa:p

I've sailed both classes and also prefer the Spirit class. Easier to navigate, didn't feel as crowded and just plain prettier. The onlly advantage I found on the conquest class (besides the fish & chips) was the giant screen on Lido deck.
