Carnival Excursion Tipping

Yes, it's nice to give a tip to the drivers and to the tour guide. I base my tips on the quality of the tour, the tour guide and the bus driver. I won't tip as much on a group tour as I would on a private tour recognizing that we are not getting the one on one attention of a private tour and that there are so many others with us on the tour who are likely to give a tip as well. My experience is that about half the people tip. Sometimes a little more on some group tours and sometimes a little less.

We book all our tours through the cruiselines and at the end of every excursion the tour guide always asks everyone to chip in a dollar or two for the bus driver. We make our decision based on the quality of service we received.

I read on shore excursion FAQs on the CCL website that $1 per person for 1/2 day excursions and $2 per person for full day excursions is the recommended amount.

Sounded reasonable to me.
