kbnovak Posted December 17, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 17, 2007 We leave on the Glory on 1/5/08--Eastern. When docked at Port Canaveral, is the ship docked to the port or starboard side? Thanks.
Dabbler Posted December 17, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 17, 2007 If it is still the same as when I went it is the Starbord side

kbnovak Posted December 17, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted December 17, 2007 Thanks for the info. Our balcony is on port side, so it's up on deck for us for sailaway!
CwuzCwazy Posted December 17, 2007 #5 Share Posted December 17, 2007 Wouldn't worry too much....Port Canaveral is the least picturesque port to depart from. You won't miss much, even if you are in an inside cabin.
-ClevelandRocks- Posted December 17, 2007 #6 Share Posted December 17, 2007 Ditto all the above. Ship is tied off on the starboard side, Port Canaveral sail-away is a non event. Nothing like Tampa. BUT, on the good side, Canaveral is an excellent facility and Glory eastern R-O-C-K-S-! Also, look for dolphin/porpoise leaving port, we see them every time. Here's a pic outta the port side balcony, the shuttle launch pad is just behind Sensation.
ntsurf Posted December 17, 2007 #7 Share Posted December 17, 2007 Same here. I was disappointed to realize sail away happened during the muster drill. It took so long to get off the deck and up to the top, we were all the way out of port. No music, no party....

Cobra1365 Posted December 17, 2007 #10 Share Posted December 17, 2007 This picture shows the ship tied up on the port side. That is the Sensation. Pickture was probably taken FROM the Glory.
Rare Essiesmom Posted December 18, 2007 #11 Share Posted December 18, 2007 Nope, that's Elation. I did a B2B on her in April and when we left Port. C the first time, we were already in the channel be the time they led us up to the lifeboats. But the second time, we were just casting off when the drill was over. -ClevelandRocks- Posted December 18, 2007 #12 Share Posted December 18, 2007 Yeah, I guess that is Elation. Looks the same as Sensation and uses Sensation's terminal. Yes, the photo was taken from our balcony on Glory PORT SIDE. Here's another photo off Glory which illustrates how it's moored and the extent (non-extent) of the sail-away. It simply pushes away from the pier with it's thrusters, does a 180, and heads out to sea.
M&M time Posted December 19, 2007 #13 Share Posted December 19, 2007 Just got off the Glory - ship is tied up on the Starboard side. When pulling out of port we actually had a great time! A lot of local fishermen were coming in at the time and hamming it up for the cruisers, and there are two (maybe more? - can't remember) restaurants along the shoreline that always shout out to the ships. While it's not the Titanic sail away it was still fun to be a part of! -Macaille
