Hi Folks

Has anyone done the Dominica Rain Forest Aerial Tram on their own? I'd like to know if it is easy to get there and back by taxi. Do you buy tickets on-line or at the site? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Also, can anyone give me an approximate price a taxi or van might charge to get to the RFAT. Is it difficult to arrange a return taxi?

We did this in Oct 2004 as a Princess excursion and loved it. The bus ride up is enough of a thrill as the roads on steep and winding. We did think of taking a taxi and doing it on our own but opted for the ship's tour and I'm glad we did. You will have no problems getting a taxi up but there were not any taxis waiting to take people back. If you want to do it this way I would hire a taxi to come back and get you at an appointed time.

 

It's really a great excursion and we still talk about it whenever we cruise.

If you don't want to book thru the ship I would suggest you go on line and find a tour company that offers the tour including transportation. BTW, I can imagine how fun this would be, Dominica is an awesome port. and the rain forrest great.

We booked this trip with Shore Trips last.

Had our own personal guide and driver who waited for us.

Would recomend and we had a history lesson on the way.

Have a great time which ever way you do it.:)
