Woo Hoo! I love live reports!

 

We cruised the same ship/itinerary in October and left the Radisson at 10:30. We were the 2nd group boarding (we did have a suite so we had priority) and were numbers 7, 8, 9 and 10 to board the ship. You just might want to go a little earlier! I always figure it's more fun to wait in the terminal than at the hotel!

WOW. I go in October, and the most ships that were in port when I was on the Freedom was 3. Miami leaving had 2, then coming back 3, puerto rico none, st. thomas and st. maarten 1 each.

 

The ports are much more crowded in the winter, when the Caribbean is more popular.

Radio: Could you please snoop around and chat up the staff and find out about this guy who posted on cruisejunkie (and it was reproduced here on CC yesterday or the day before)::

 

December 31: From a passenger: I was travelling with my family for the New Year holiday on the ship, departing Miami December 29. There were 10 other family members on board the ship with me. I was playing in the casino and got into an argument with some high rollers in the casino on the departing night, Saturday (12/29). There was no physical altercation just an argument. Security broke up the argument and I was asked to leave the casino and went back to my cabin around 1:30am. The high roller threatened me and a security guard was placed outside my cabin overnight. The next day I was called by Guest Relations around 9:45pm and was told to meet Security in the back room at the front desk at 7:00 am Monday, which was the first port of call. There were several gentlemen present at the meeting (head of security, guest relations) and I was told that I have 45 minutes to pack my bags and get off the ship and that I was a security risk to the ship. I packed my bags and was escorted to the dining room. In the dining room there were immigration officials who had to approve of my disembarkation. Although I objected to being thrown off the ship and although the immigration officials also didn't approve of my being thrown off the ship, officials from the cruise line handed an envelope with $1,000 cash in it to the immigration official and I was then escorted off the ship to a small boat then transferred to Labadee (private reserve on the island of Haiti). I was put in a golf cart and driven to the end of a fenced in area to a waiting jeep. Inside the jeep were machine gun armed guards and the driver. I was driven from a locked compound in Labadee, Haiti to a run down deserted landing strip where there was a turbo propeller plane waiting for me. On the ride to the landing strip I was advised to duck down for my safety. I was scared for my life and thought I was going to die. I was then escorted onto the turbo prop and was flown from Haiti to Fort Lauderdale, taking 3 hours. I then transferred onto a commercial airliner at my cost and arrived home Monday night. FYI, Haiti is listed on the US State Departments list of countries for Americans to avoid.

Wow......another Radio...Live report. Love it. We are sailing on the Empress one week from Monday. You are on the largest ship in the fleet and we will be on the smallest. I will enjoy traveling with you as I "impatiently" wait for our cruise. Enjoy every minute!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree..it's lovely, it's very light & not too sweet:) The best part is that they make it for the dining room in the evening and as it's sugar free it's not often requested ;) so they will often put it in the Windjammer for afternoon tea the next day - so I can have it twice :D

When I have it in the dining room, I ask for 2 pieces right away!!! I also have it in the Windjammer. There's just such a good taste to it!

Hello everyone ! I made it on board. I stopped on the way to get some pics and video of all of the ships in Port today.

 

I arrived at the Pier at around 11AM. As soon as I left the hotel...the weather was getting better every minute. By the time I arrived on board; it was sunny and warm (75f)

 

I had no problems getting checked in. . .I stopped by at the Pier Coordinator's Desk, but there were no Suite upgrades to be had. They had only a few Outside Cabins available.

 

I like the way that they only take the Welcome Aboard photo, once you actually get on the ship. The Check In Process was very very fast. I would say that the time from parking my car to walking on the ship was about 20 minutes.

 

I have looked around a bit, but there are many things to see and many things to do. I am very Impressed from what I have seen so far. There is a ton of counter space due to the flat screen TV. The safe is now in the closet insted of in the cabinet over the TV. . .

 

There ar no airs ducts in the ceiling on these cabins. . . .The air is fed to the cabin from above the large cabin mirror. I haven't measured, but the cabins (D2) seems to be a little longer than Mariner of the Seas. The Balcony is very big.

 

The muster drill is at 4:30; and the Sailaway will be at 5PM. Tonights Welcome Aboard Show will feature Rick Novel (The "Ladder Guy")

 

The Captain for this sailing is Charles Teige, and the CD is James Andrews.I and I almost forgot to announce that the Drink of the Day is Anchors Away !
