True. There are seperate lines for checking in if your are Platinum and above. As far as disembarking the ship, there is a seperate lounge to wait in as the colors are being called but I believe it's for Diamond and above.

Sometimes the 'WAITING' lounge is for Platinum and Diamond. It's up to the LA to decide who gets to use it.

Depending on your port of disembarkation, the "priority" line may not be any faster. Check-in is a very efficient, stream-lined process these days. :)

True. ;) The worst one I have ever had was in Vancouver at Canada Place.:o It took 2.5 hours to get on the ship. Everyone was cranky, tired, and hungry by then. The lineups were horrific.

In November on the Vision, I think it took us less than 15 minutes to get on the ship.

Disembarkation is worse than embarkation!

Does RCI even use Canada Place?

You have me searching my memory Carol. Come to think of it, there was only one time we had priority disembarkation when we used the waiting lounge. We were on the Radiance and we were platinum.

I remember all of of the looks we were getting as they marched us through the ship (single file) right past everyone in line. I also recall we were wearing little C&A stickers on our shirts to identify us as *VIP's*.;)

Getting off the Brilliance in December (first time platinum), the lounge was for platinum and diamond. However, when our tags were called, we were just expected to get on the elevators and go down to the line, which was massive. It took us another hour to get off the ship and was not a VIP experience by any means.

As a crown and anchor member does RCCL have separate lines on embarkation and de-barkation ?

Yes, but you really don't have to worry about the different lines unless it is very busy at the time. Sometimes the Plat & Diamond lines might have more people than the regular lines.

Last 2 cruises were out of Ft. Lauderdale. For the Enchantment the 'regular' lines were busy -- I'm platinum and no one was in that line so was on-board in about 10 minutes (approx. 12:15). For the last cruise (Jewel) the regular lines were moving fairly quickly and again no one in the platinum line - however it took a bit longer to get on-board as they were stopping everyone at intervals to tell them the cabins weren't ready and wouldn't be until 1pm (it was 12:30).

Disembarkation -- I agree with earlier posters -- it can be a nightmare and was on the Enchantment. We were late clearing the ship and didn't start debarking close to 9am. The waiting area for platinum and above was the upper level of the dining room - but you couldn't hear the announcements in there. It felt like it took 1/2 hour just to get off the ship. Customs was another issue (I'm Cdn so had to go through the non-US lines -- we had only agent and he wasn't the swiftest -- at that time my passport was brand new, but he must have flipped through it 10 times before he decided he would let me go through!). It was close to 11am by the time we got to the airport. Debarking the Jewel was a lot faster - easier. Was at the airport by 9:45.

No matter what level of C&A you are --- remember to complete and print your SeaPass and have it ready when you enter the terminal. You'll be on-board a lot faster if you do!

The last cruise I was on, they looked at the printed out Seapass and then proceeded to throw it away. She said it wasn't needed and continued to check me in. LOL

In San Juan, the departure lounge in the dining room was open to Platinum, Diamond and Diamond + members to wait in until their colors were called.

It was announced many times that the Platinum passengers would not get escorted off of the ship first. They were only allowed the privilege of waiting in there until their colors were called and having the refreshments.

When Diamond and + were escorted off they had to stay behind. ;)

On embarking, there were a few who could go to the front of the line who had suites and were Diamond and +, otherwise it was all one line. My husband and I gave our luggage to them and we were pulled to the front in a separate line behind the ships entertainers for the cruise. We are Diamond and had a suite. We have no idea if it was that reason or because we are older? :D

Once inside, there was a separate line after you got through the x ray scanners and metal detectors.

That is how it was for us on the Empress.

We did the first cruise out of there on her 11 night itinerary so we were the first to start their policy. It may have changed since Nov. 5 - 16.

In our experience, some places/ships had lines for Platinum members and up and some had only Diamond and up. We never knew until we got there. ;)

The private departure lounge is a perk for Platinum and above. Priority departure depends on the LA and the ship. Sometimes even Diamond/D+ don't get true priority - excursions, express departure and early flights often get to go first.

On embarkation (the original question), in Los Angeles at least it's often good to be queen - we've arrived at the port as late as 2:00 and, even if there's not much of a line to check in, they're still calling numbers to board. With D/D+ status we can waltz right through.:D

Ronrocks - if you go to the royal caribbean web page click on the Crown & Anchor tab you will see where you can enroll in the Crown & Anchor program. You only need one cruise, you will be considered a gold member and will receive some benefits on your next cruise.
