cb at sea Posted January 24, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2008 Most men just wear a t-shirt with their bathing suits!
Repsol Rod Posted January 25, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 25, 2008 Depending on what he might be wearing, a pair of opaque nylon or onion skin running shorts might do the trick. That's usually what I don for trekking about. Repsol
Gail C Posted January 25, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 25, 2008 My husband just puts on a golf shirt with his swim suit.
iheartbda Posted January 25, 2008 #5 Share Posted January 25, 2008 My husband just puts on a golf shirt with his swim suit. Ditto. Anything in terry cloth is going to look rather like a bathrobe.
Jungle Jane Posted January 25, 2008 #6 Share Posted January 25, 2008 Hmmmm, I've never heard of nor seen any kind of cover up for a guy. Usually guys wear swim trunks that double as shorts and just throw a t shirt or golf shirt on too.
brn2crz Posted January 25, 2008 #7 Share Posted January 25, 2008 Have not seen those around for years, but i do remember them. We had one a couple of years ago for DS when he was about 3...It was by OP (Ocean Pacific) It was yellow, with a hood, and had surf boards,,and a matching navy swin trunk with boards around the bottom...It was awesome..especially for a young one just getting out of the water..and then being able to walk about town or the ship....It hung just below the waste, and zipped...loved it. karen sharpe Posted January 25, 2008 #9 Share Posted January 25, 2008 They're actually out there!! This peaked my interest because I remembered a terry lined button up shirt my dad wore back in the 60's with his swimming trunks. When I found this site I was in stitches...all I could picture was my big strong husband and BIL headed to the pool in these with their beach bags...:p:p If you REALLY are interested here's the site:http://www.nextag.com/Pants--zzbeach+coverupsz2700382zB6z5---html
Repsol Rod Posted January 25, 2008 #10 Share Posted January 25, 2008  Oops, my bad. Don't know why I though the OP meant just covering up on the bottom. I usually go with a T-shirt too. Repsol
vmom Posted January 25, 2008 #11 Share Posted January 25, 2008 I agree with the others. I'd suggest a t shirt. Most of the men's trunks now look like bathing suits, so a coverup to cover his trunks really isn't necessary. otherwise, he can always put on a pair of wider legged shorts over his trunks. I agree, I think a terry coverup would look too much like a bathrobe on a man. I think it was a style a LONG time ago, but I haven't seen a man in a terry coverup in ages. kodidog Posted January 25, 2008 #13 Share Posted January 25, 2008 I did not look very far into the site, but there are both button up shirts and golf type styles in terry for men.... http://www.wittmanntextiles.com/tebeja.html
Robin7 Posted January 26, 2008 #14 Share Posted January 26, 2008 They're not made of terry cloth, but how about what we called a 'baja' in my former surfer-chick lifestyle? (Back in the 70s in the Los Angeles area.) All the surfer guys wore them. Just watch out for spontaneous exclamations of "DUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE!" I googled 'baja shirt' and got many hits, including this one: http://www.wholesalecentral.com/sercal0001/store.cfm?event=showcatalog&catid=73347 Robin
mollyanne Posted January 26, 2008 Author #15 Share Posted January 26, 2008 Thanks to all who took me seriously:). He really wants some kind of cover-up - more than just a T-shirt. I did find a couple of the ones shown before I posted this but the sizes weren't right. He does have (and has LOVED) baja shirts! Thanks for the suggestions. mickeyfitz Posted January 26, 2008 #20 Share Posted January 26, 2008 I have never seen anyone wearing anything like that. In my opinion, it looks sillyand impractical, but each to his own.

ehfl Posted February 7, 2008 #22 Share Posted February 7, 2008 A Hawaiian shirt is best for pool or beach. Much better looking than terry cloth for out in public. Please, do not let him go out in public wearing terry cloth.
rhecker Posted February 18, 2008 #23 Share Posted February 18, 2008 there wouldn't be enough money in the world for my husband to wear that. I usually go to Stein Mart and find my husband matching or coordinating bathing suit and shirt.
Ladydee Posted February 28, 2009 #24 Share Posted February 28, 2009 Hi All: I am having NO LUCK in finding a cover-up for my husband. He would like something in a terry cloth. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! Wow, tough crowd! I don't think they make exactly what you are looking for anymore. My suggestion would be a solid pair of swim trunks with a cotton Hawaiian-style, button-down, collared shirt. This will be loose-fitting and comfortable for your husband and would be very acceptable should you be going from beach to a casual lunch or bar, and I would say even for excursions.
