We'll be on the Victory in 13 days!

 

No, there is no supper club.

 

Yes, you can purchase wine on the Carnival website and have it delivered to your cabin:

Which cruise are you booking? We're going to the Eastern Caribbean

 

Oh how disappointing about the supper club! We were on Conquest a couple of years ago and had a fantastic anniversary dinner in The Point supper club. Is there really nowhere similar on Victory? We are planning a January 2009 Southern Caribbean cruise from Barbados for ourselves and our two children and their partners and children - 8 of us in all. It is to celebrate our Ruby Wedding, my husband's 60th birthday and his retirement and also it will be used as my son's honeymoon as he is getting married at the end of December 2008. We also hope to be joined by other members of our family who live in Canada. So there might be 12 to 16 of us altogether!

 

Perhaps when you are on your cruise this month, you could investigate for me and let me know via this thread. I would be most grateful. If there really is nowhere similar on the ship, we will either have to use the normal restaurant on formal night or perhaps find somewhere in Barbados where we are planning to have a few days pre-cruise.

 

Hope you have a good cruise. As you can see from my signature, we are off to Barbados in 9 weeks time for a Princess transatlantic back to Southampton.

Don't sell the Victory short, she may not have the supper club but if you talk to the Matri'D perhaps he can help you plan something extra special. The dining rooms are very beautiful in their own right. Have fun with your cruise on the Victory. I really enjoyed myself.

Years ago, and I dont remember which ship we were on, just that there was no Supper Club, we also were travelling with 24 family members celebrating Grandpas and Nanas 50th Wedding Anniversary. We had two round tables and for their anniversary, with help from the Maitre'D and our wait staff, we were allowed to enter the dining room early and hang ribbons from the ceiling, put balloons on the chairs, flowers on the tables etc and it was a huge success....

 

At desert time, the Carnival Staff came around the table and sang to them along with pretty much most of the passengers. For the rest of the week, everyone congratulated Grandpa and Nana and although they are now gone, I have those wonderful memories of that cruise....

 

Go on the Victory and enjoy....AND CONGRATULATIONS...

When I was on Victory last summer there were numerous families and groups celebrating special occasions in the dining rooms. Of the two dining rooms, I think the Pacific is somewhat nicer because it has windows on three sides and is slightly larger.

Thanks for all your comments. I shall certainly bear them in mind and have a word with the MD and perhaps we can arrange something for the Pacific Dining Room. I am sure we will have a great time whatever happens as we just love cruising. Hopefully I will be able to book the cruise next week when I get all the passenger details from my family. When we cruised on Conquest a couple of years ago, we were a party of 12 and the MD organised a large round table to accommodate us all - it worked perfectly. Its just that the 50th anniversary celebration meal in the Supper Club was so memorable, we had hoped to stage something similar!

I just got off the Victory on Friday... *sigh* wish I was still there!

 

The others are right, no supper club, and nothing remotely like it on the ship. We were in the Atlantic dining room, which is smack in the middle of the ship, preventing easy navigation of decks 3 and 4... you either have to go up to deck 5, through the casino, or down to deck 2, through the cabin hallways. I got used to it, but it was still a bit of a pain.

 

The only other issues I really had were that the buffet lines were looooooooong, and those pesky seahorses on the stairways. LOL! I'll be uploading pictures soon! Just launched Dreamweaver to work on the pages, actually. ;)

If it hasn't changed Pacific starts dinner 15 mins earlier than the Atlantic in both seatings. We had the 5:45 seating ( we don't normally eat that early) but we had 2 diabetics and we had to stay close to our regular eating time which is 6:30-7:00pm.

I'm thinking of booking the Victory for a 4 day Canada cruise on 6/10 for DD and I. Anyone done this one?

 

Did it last July

 

The weather was aweful. The ports were not too exciting, actually boring-

When we were docking, i thought i was in Newark NJ.. ok slight exageration...

Our friends loved the reverse rapids...

 

I think they refurbished the ship - if they didnt i would stay away from it...

 

I will say this- The people in Canada were some of the nicest people we have ever met.. They were very welcoming

I think both dining rooms had an early and a late seating. We were Atlantic, early, at 5:45. I don't know what the other times were.

 

As for a review... well... my experience is going to vary WIDELY from the norm, as it was a chartered music-themed cruise with the band Barenaked Ladies (by the same people who put together The Rock Boat). So... yeah... that's going to color my review a little. ;) Even the dining... we didn't have assigned seating. Every passenger was at "table 100," and it was open seating. We also had a lot of areas blocked off for the artists and other things (Irish pub was the even organizer's offices, off limits), and a giant stage set up on the Lido deck (where the old one was, before the refit, I might add).

 

I did get my vacation "storyboard" up on my web site today... I'll link the page with all my Victory shots, and if you would like to explore the rest (which includes a LOT of concert photos), you can certainly feel free to do so! :D It should be mostly family friendly, though there may be a little language, and some PG photo content! LOL!

We'll be on the Victory in January, 09. There will be about 25 in our group. We'll be celebrating a 40th and and early 60th birthday party - but we'll celebrate it in the dining room. We are already booked - the ship is filling up really fast.

From one Canadian, thanks for the friendly remark.

Victory was my first cruise so far, and I LOVED it.

For any first time cruisers, when going to the shows at night, if you don't want to drink and want to actually see the performances, sit in the balcony's, otherwise you will have the wait staff walking back and forth in front of you getting orders and giving drinks to other cruisers.

I had a balcony-empress level 7373, it was fabulous.

Our cruise director was 'Malcolm-in the middle' but I don't think he is working the seas any longer. I really wanted a ship on a stick, maybe on this trip I will be a lucky winner.

We spent a week in Toronto one year.. what a great city! Loved it.. so much to see and do..great restaurants, great shopping. great people!!
