The Great Tahiti Cc Meet And Greet

The meet and greet we arranged through ship services provided coffee, tea and cookies for our first meet and greet. We had a wonderful turnout. I would especially like to thank Clyde3 ( Joe, Mary Jo and Marlys ) for providing the really nice name tags; thanks guys.

We had a marvelous turnout and the Culinary Manager, David Woods, and the purser Carol Lagmay were there to answer any questions we might have and the Cruise Director Michelle Worthley stopped by to visit with us.

Those of us in the picture in no particular order, Beartrap 495, BobPatJ, Clyde3, Garboyl, Goldens, Hallpau, Happy Cruiser User, IrishBlessing, JandV, Kakalina, Pappa Goose, G&G, Elizabeth and Terry, Janice and Jo.

We had a great time getting to know one another and talking about several of the excursions we had booked together. We decided to plan another get together of the cheese and wine variety and we agreed to handle the details. More on that later.

It looks like a great group, we are taking this cruise Jan/09.

I have a couple of questions if anyone can help? How did you find the sea days, my DH and I like sea days but we've never had 5 or 6 days in a row, was there lots of ship activities or did you do your own thing?

I read your roll call and the tours that you booked were they what you expected? Did you take any ship tours that were really good?

We like the water, can anyone give us any ideas on snorkling beaches that we can do on our own or tours?

That's too many questions already, better stop.

The private tour many of us booked with Bruno in Riatiea was very nice. Although the weather was not the best he compensated nicely. We snorkeled in two lovely places. The lunch at the motu had some very good food and better wine. The hot, fresh marlin fritters were to die for.

The ships excursion in Moorea we did once before and it was just as wonderful as we remembered it. The snorkeling was wonderful ( although you need to bring your own gear ). The food was great and the weather cooperated for the most part. They rays are so friendly that they crawl right into your lap.

The sea days are our favorite part of a long cruise. I kept busy with plenty of games and activities while DH did his napping thing. We both spent some time in the casino and donating to the slot fund.

Almost all of the ports require some effort to get out to a snorkeling spot, either through the ship or booked online in advance. Bora Bora is the only spot in French Polynesia where you can take Le Truck ( their version of a bus ) to a nice beach. We did find several of the larger hotels were charging a goodly fee to use their beaches this time.

In Hawaii their are plenty of beaches you can go to for snorkeling. I highly recommend Hanamau Bay in Oahu and Molokini in Maui.

I plan to write a detailed review as soon as I get my ducks in a row. If I can answer any more questions, just let us know. Check out our photos.

The pictures below are from the second CC party. Our BYOB and cheese plate party. The story on that will be told tomorrow.

Ahoy!

Welcome back. A rather handsome group of folks shown that doubtlessly were enjoying a well deserved cruise.

Just a quickie question. I'm currently 'penciling out' / planning 2009 potential vacation(s). We took an Oct '02 15 day Circle HA on HAL &, of course, had a great time. The seas were a bit rough on some days but overall quite tolerable.

I'm now contemplating the 30 day extended version (that I see you've done twice) that includes Tahiti. I guess my question is whether you would point someone toward the the fall or the winter sailing(s).I'm primarily interested in the any difference in sea & weather conditions you might have noticed or heard of between the seasons. I realize it's a very subjective query.

Thanks. May your next cruise be a GREAT CRUISE!

Bon Voyage & Good Health!

Bob: We have made the cruise twice in Jan and will be making it again in Sept on the Statendam. So we will have a comparision for you in the fall. One of the locals was telling us that the weather is much better in Sept than it was in Jan. We will see. . .

Kakalina: Thanks for answering so quickly, that gives us an idea of what we have to do in the ports as far as snorkling is concerned.

Are most of the ports close to the towns or are shuttles or cabs needed?

Were there many of the sea days that were really rough? From San Diego to Hawaii the sea days were they sunny and hot or a bit on the cool side?

Love your pics hope we can get such a group together.

How was the entertainment? I know you'll probably be telling us most of this in your review, will look forward to it.

Great Photos and what a nice group picture. Thanks so much for posting the photos and scheduling/arranging the Cruise Critic get togethers on the Ryndam.

Kakalina, do not get to close to that stingray; it appears to be in love with you.
