Windjammer Lunch Question

On the Mariner, does the Windjammer open for lunch on port days? If so, what are the hours? We have an early excursion in Grand Cayman and would like to get back to the ship for lunch and enjoy the pools without the crowds.

Yes, they are open. I don't know the hours! I, too, love being on the ship when everyone else is out and about!

They normally open about 11:30. Never later than noon that I remember.

As I recall, the WJ is only closed for lunch on Labadee/CocoCay days. The staff is on shore serving the BBQ there.

Actually, I think it is open then too--at least last visit to Coco Cay it was. Havent been to Labadee in a while.

Last June at Coco Cay, the Windjammer was closed but the dining room was open for lunch.

I've never seen the Windjammer closed even in Labadee. We like to stay on ship most port days lately as we've been to most. We don't eat lunch in diningroom so I know we always have lunch from Windjammer.

I just looked at my Compass from Sept. When we were at Cococay, the Windjammer was closed for lunch. The dining rooms were opened from 12-2. The Windjammer did open up again at 3-5 for snack/tea time.When we were stopped at St. Thomas and St. Maarten the Windjammer was open from 11:30-2:30 for lunch. The dining rooms are not opened at all. The Windjammer did open again at 3 for snack time again. I hope this helps.

Speaking of lunch, what kind of lunch is served in the dining room? I'm aware from some other posts what the windjammer is like...but what is the lunch menu in the dining room like?

The lunch menu in the dining room is pretty bad. It never changes except for one special. We used to really enjoy lunch in the dining room on RCI.

I too found it somewhat limited and bland. Although I do enjoy the pasta bar that they recently had on the Radiance.

 

There is normally a selection of entrees, sandwhiches, soups and salads. Not as extensive as dinner. I don't mean to criticize, it was well prepared and service was as normal, just did not care for the lunch time selections.
