High C's Posted March 2, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2008 Ok Ladies so what are your hubby's going to wear on the many walking tours that we will all take in Italy, France etc???Confortable sneakers aka tennis shoes or others??? I plan on picking him up a pair of Merrell walking shoes for Father's Day, but I can almost bet that he will usually defer to his favourite New Balance athletic shoes. Rare Cruise Junky Posted March 2, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 2, 2008 My DH was the poster child for white sneakers.. but before we did our land trip last year I bought him a really nice pair of leather sandals from Costco of all places. He loves them and wore them a lot. So much cooler on the feet than socks and runners.

Susan-M Posted March 2, 2008 #7 Share Posted March 2, 2008 DH wears light hikers (Garmont or Merrell) ... comfortable for being on your feet all day...and good for the many surfaces that we cover on our port days...cobblestones, gravel roads, trails, etc. ... and they are beige/brown.:)
operafan Posted March 2, 2008 #8 Share Posted March 2, 2008 DH wears Merrell's and Pikolino's. Best thing about about the Pikolinos, (I wear them too.) is they look good AND are comfortable.
Bruin Steve Posted March 2, 2008 #9 Share Posted March 2, 2008 I only wear Merrells nowadays...Got hooked a few years back...most comfortable shoes I've ever owned...I've got three pairs--one's a Brown Suede, another's a light brown suede, the third's a black leather...All are "slip-ons"...No laces to deal with... And they work with most everything I own short of suits and formalwear...
Rare taxatty Posted March 2, 2008 #10 Share Posted March 2, 2008 Love my Rockports--best walking shoes by far I've ever tried, and the black leather tie ones go with everything. Les
Imagineer Posted March 2, 2008 #11 Share Posted March 2, 2008 ...and I'll 2nd the motion for Rockport, I've got several pair of the Pro-walkers and they're great, I've been in situations where I was on my feet literally all day and they were comfortable the whole time... ...plus they've got a wider sole on them, something to consider when walking on cobblestoned streets... cheers, the Imagineer
lauderdalebob Posted March 4, 2008 #12 Share Posted March 4, 2008 Although I don't own any now, I did have some a few years ago bought at Marshalls (I think) but now see the JC Penney sells them also. The most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. Hated to see them wear out. Before we head to Europe in November I think I'll look into buying some again. They were the most comfortable I've ever tried on. sfocruiser Posted March 4, 2008 #13 Share Posted March 4, 2008 Love my Rockports--best walking shoes by far I've ever tried, and the black leather tie ones go with everything. Les I'll add my vote for the Rockport (prowalker). I used these so much when walking/hiking that on our last trip to Europe I left the sneakers behind. Never had a blister. Great shoes
