what to do in Orlando for the day?

What do you suggest to do in Orlando for the day while waiting for an evening flight, limited budget?

Go to the nicest hotel you can find, relax by the pool and pretend your a guest!

Downtown Disney is free and kind of fun if you want the Disney flavor without the expense of the theme parks. It's just shops and restaurants (and great ice cream), but it's a fun way to kill an afternoon without breaking the bank.

Or you could stay in Cocoa Beach for the day and relax.

Since DH and I did fly back til today, spending a day in Orlando -- we took naps.... BUT there were folks there that were on cruises, one family that i talked to was on a Disney cruise ... they came to use the pool and have lunch waiting for their flight.

Old Town in Kissimmee is a cheap place to go. They have outdoor bands on Friday and Saturday. Good drink specials. Lot of locals go there so that tells you something.

The Florida Mall is 10 minutes from the airport. It could take several hours just browsing. There is also a hotel connected to the mall that has very comfortable chairs in the lobby areas.

If you like water parks, Disney's Blizzard Beach is one of the better ones anywhere and the cost is less than $40. Don't know if that's in your price range. But it might be a nice capper on your cruise. There are facilities there for changing and food is not too expensive either.

Is it just adults? or will there be children also??

 

Downtown Disney is definitely a cheap option... they've got free parking and tons of shops to browse while you wait. You can also walk around in the Pleasure Island area during the day... And if you have children with you, they've got fountains for them to play in also. (great fun!) And in one of the shops you can play with Lego and in another you can put together a Mr. Pototo Head or at the other end of that same shop you can dress a My Little Pony with all kinds of outfits.

 

There's also lots of shops in the Orlando Int'l Airport, so if you had to get there early, there's plenty to do and look at right there also.

Speaking of water parks, Sea World's Aquatica just opened Saturday. I heard it's a great park. It's about 25 minutes closer to the airport than Disney is.

Well, since Church Street Station closed, I would head to City Walk at Universal Studios. There is a huge movie theater, lots of shops, and lots of restaurants. We always have a lot of fun there.

Church Street used to be the best. Sorry it closed as it really has hurt downtown Orlando.
