School Holidays in Dec/08

Hi - Just wondering when the kids get out of school for December break in Australia.

 

Am I trying to avoid a ship full of kids.....absolutely ;)

School holidays in Queensland are from 15th December to 28th January. Each state is different, but around those periods, with Tasmania starting later and finishing in February. Private schools have even longer, some from end of November.

 

Many parents, like us, pull their children out of school outside these periods to travel overseas for longer holidays.

Here are the school dates in Australia for the Christmas Break for 2008:

 

Victoria: 19th December

ACT: 19th December

N.S.W. 19th December

N.T. 12th December

QLD. 12th December

S.A. 12th December

W.A. 18th December

Tas. 18th December

 

As Marion has said Private Schools usually break up at the beginning of December. Most schools return back the last week of January or the first week of February.

dont forget also all year 12 school leavers will have left by then also.

I dont think your cruise will be bothered too much by them though.

 

P and O have made it policy not to take booking for teenagers without a parent/older person in the cabin for certain sailings.(not sure about RCL)

 

Rapsody is a relative newer ship to our waters . and not known to be a family oriniated cruise (yet) The prices are right though, some great specials going.

 

have you checked webshots etc for photos of your stops. I would hate for you to be disappointed after your cruising history

Also remember that schools west of Dubbo have "Enterprise Agreement Days" where eight days per annum are taken in lieu of shorter break times. Thus, most schools end a few days earlier. Also, they go back one week later (due to the extreme heat in January). :D
