Barge cruising in England,Scotland & Ireland

Has anyone taken one of the UK barge cruises? I am trying to find information on the "Magna Carta" or the "Actief" or "Shannon Princess" or Scottish Highlander.

We had a great time on the Scottish Highlander which was booked through www.thebargelady.com. We also booked a trip through her in France. The trip in Scotland was in August, and it was cool, but we had a great time. check in out.

There are many "Hotel Boats" operating in the UK on the canal systems.

If you google "Hotel Boats" this will lead you to a wealth of information.

These "Hotel boats" are often referred to as "Narrowboats" because of restrictions in width due to the narrowness of the Canals.

Some offer en-suite accomodation and are fully catered.

My husband and I are 8 weeks out from a 7 day cruise on the Thames River from London to Reading on a Dutch barge which has two crew and only 4 passengers. This same vessel ("Gallinago") has their 2008 schedule and prices available on line. Just google "Gallinago" and you can see what cruises are available, when and costs together with photos and details of the vessel.
