travelteach326 Posted March 9, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2008 I am concerned about the "Dress Code" for an Alaskan cruise. Are there formal nights - people wearing tuxes and gowns? OR Are Alaskan cruises a little laid back and less formal.
cb at sea Posted March 9, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2008 On formal nights--the majority will be in formal or eveningwear! Dark suits or tuxes, and gowns or cocktail dresses. There will always be some who won't dress for the occassion, but they will be in the minority!
RetireeWannabee Posted March 9, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2008 Might depend on the ship, also. We were on Princess and there were tuxes and gowns, suits and cocktail dresses. I did not see any "informal" attire, but, we were having so much fun with the group we were seated with that I did not notice.
DukeFamily Posted March 9, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 9, 2008 We were on Princess in Alaska and it seemed like EVERYONE really decked out on the two formal nights. The rest of the time was pretty laid back and low key. People wore jeans and pants, sweaters, etc. Gets pretty chilly especially in the evenings. And on port days, it's SO exhausting (and exhilirating) - so many excursions are long, long - it seemed like many people barely got back on board before they went to dinner. I just remember it being somewhat more casual in Alaska - except on formal night.
