B2B & luggage if not in same cabin HELP ASAP

Recommended Posts

Would do a search, BUT....

we are looking at booking our first B2B!!! and will not be in the same cabin for both weeks. I was told by RCCL that it is up to the ship with what we will have to do with our luggage at the end of the first trip. She said WE MAY HAVE TO TAKE IT OFF THE SHIP!!! and there is no way to know until we get on the ship. HELP please--what has happened with others who did not have the same cabin? We could possibly get the same one, we were just going for the best price & are ok with chaning categories, but not if we have to take our luggasge off and bring it back on.

thanks in advance for any and all help

It is very important on B-2-B's to book them where you can STAY IN THE SAME ROOM both weeks.

I'm curious why you aren't doing that?? Maybe you should find a cabin you can have for both weeks. It REALLY makes a difference.

To answer your question about luggage, everyone I have talked to and all the posts on these boards have always said:

All you have to do is pack - the stewards will move your things to your new room. You do NOT need to take your luggage off the ship.

You will need to meet with a ship's officer/staff on debarkation day (usually around 10:00) and they will walk all the B-2-B'ers off the ship, through immigration, and back onto the ship with new Seapass Cards for the next week. The whole process takes about 30 minutes.

Hope This Helps.

we have did several b2b's and have never taken our luggage off the ship, if we are not in the same cabin, we usually go to the new cabin and find the new cabin attendant couple days before, and tell him which cabin we will be in and ask him to clean it first, and then we take our stuff there about 9am, we just leave it on the hangers and carry it to the elevators. they will help you with the luggage totes, but you sometimes have to really wait a long time and we like to just get it down, we always try to get a cabin on the same deck and as close as possible this really helps. Have a great cruise, it is no big deal and then you can enjoy the rest of the day!

I was on a B2B2B on the Monarch last month and changed cabins on each leg. Let your cabin attendant know that you are staying on board and making a cabin change. You should receive a letter on the last evening telling you what to do, if not check with guest services. On the Monarch I was told to leave my bags (yes I did repack them) in my room and they would be taken to the new cabin. I did put my new luggage tags on the bags, just in case. You do have to leave the ship, go through customs and check in to receive your new set sail pass before reboarding. My luggage was waiting for me in my new cabin.

PS: While it would be nice to stay in the same cabin, sometimes it isn't possible. I have found that the minimal inconvenience is well worth it if it means I can stay on board for another cruise while everyone else has to go home!

I was on a B2B2B last year and what I disliked the most was packing and unpacking. The room stewards were great at getting the luggage from one room to another but I still had to pack.

We will not do a B2B unless we can keep the same room. It is much nicer to not have to re-pack.

Happy Cruising

We did a B2B last year, but we had the same cabin for the second leg of the cruise. However, I have read in several places, that the cabin steward will take your stuff to your new cabin for you. I think, as long as you let them know you are moving to another room, they will be happy to help you. (Especially if you give them a nice smile and perhaps an extra tip - must be worth that. :))

Have a wonderful time. It is a lovely feeling to know you have another week to go, when nearly everyone else is having to pack up and go home.

I have a even different experience. I booked thru two TAs, I wanted to change TAs and booked the second cruise later and my cabin wasnt available, so I changed cabins rather than contact TA #1.

What my ship had us do was they took our two suitcases and put them in a room behind the purser's desk and held them for us with our names on the suitcases. We got off, took about 30 minutes to walk us through, came back thru and got our suitcases later on and put them in the new cabin, easy.

Our cabin steward didnt move our suitcases like everyone is saying here, purser's desk handled it.

one thing to remember!! You need to get off the ship with the other passengers!!

A friend and I were on a BtoB on Mariner-nobody told us this so we just dallied about, had breakfast, and moseyed off to go into town to buy wine and stuff!!

There were no customs people!! They had hit the road. We were ALMOST forced to stay on the ship!! AND pay their high prices for bad wine! Quel disaster. But, all was well. Took some time but they got ONE customs agent back! We got a cab, got our wine (and some snacks) and all was well.

clearly this was before the ban on wine. I've given up wine on RCCL rather than pay their price for swill! Unless there is a fantastic itinerary (like my So America repositioning cruise for 46 days) I book with others and carry on my wine in wine boxes--no need to sneak..

We've done B2B's both ways. Of course, it's much easier to keep the same cabin, but if you can't then try to get them close together. Our cabin steward cleaned our new cabin first and then we moved our own stuff. The only problem is once you close the door to your new cabin you can't get in until you get off the ship and get your new seapass card. This was an issue for us when we were on the Voyager when it got fogged out. We moved our stuff at 8am, but didn't get our new room keys until 4pm so we didn't have access to our room. I did keep all my valuables with me and you will need to have your passport on you to reboard.

You do not have to take your luggage off the ship and I have never stored it at Guest Relations.

Enjoy your cruise and don't stress over the move. If you have a different cabin steward on the second leg, they can both work together to get you moved as smoothly as possible.

Hope this helps!

TO OP: We just completed a B2B on Jewel. Since I booked at different times we had 2 different cabins, however I made sure they were on same deck, near each other. The switch was so simple, as I had talked to both room attendants. They moved our clothes on the hangers, and we just put the rest of our things in suitcases, leaving them in the cabin. RCL provided an info sheet. We were out of the cabin by 8am on disembark day. We took only our ID,docs and a carry bag each (with valuables of course). At 1015am, we met in a lounge, were escorted off the ship by a RCL rep. Waited a few minutes (10-15 min) got our new seapass cards, were back on board by 10:45 am. They even opened the Windjammer by 1130Am so we could go eat. New cabin was accessible by 1pm. When we got there, the cabin had been decorated (thanks to our TA) and all of our belongings were there.

This was so simple!!!

We now have 2 more B2B cruises booked, but in the same cabin.

I knew I could count on my fellow folks on CC for the answer. We could do the same cabin, but are cheapskates:D . we are doing 2 shorts to get to the next level (just in case the rumors are true;) )--good excuse anyway & only need 3 credits & the price difference pays for flights, sooooooo. Unfortunately can't get the cabins on the same deck.

Thanks everyone for your experiences. UNLESS we change our minds & go with 2 JS, I will book with 2 different entities--want to get the best OBC. For any who have done a b2b booking with 2 different TAs (1 would be RCCL & other a TA)--did you notify the guest relations upon embarkation that you were doing a B2B?

Thanks again all

I think I did ask at the purser's desk, they said a letter would come to my cabin which it did, but very late the last morning with the time and where to meet with the other B2Bers in the area beside the purser's desk. About 8 of us only. They knew we were B2B, and we had 2 TAs.

We had the same TA for both. Guest Relations knew we were B2B. You may want to check with them early during your first cruise just to be sure. Also, we had the same table number for both cruises, but the head waiter, waiter and assistant were different. Also I noticed that when checking "my cruises" before we left, only 1 of the 2 would appear. I always get an email confirmation sent with everything listed to avoid confusion.

Thanks, nothing like hearing from someone who has done it.

Stop it! STOP IT! STOP IT!!! I can't stand it. I can hardly wait! 13 nights and then 15 nights. Same cabin. OHHHHHH.:)

Alaska & then Hawaii--I am GREEN with envy. Lucky you.

We did a B2B last fall in the Med. We got our new Sea Pass the night before. We packed our suitcases, left the hanging clothes, grabbed our carry-ons with our valuables, and went to get our coffee.

We were pretty shocked to return to the room about 9AM and find that everything had been moved. We went to our new room, loaded the safe, greeted our new attendant.

We "binged" off the ship with our old card and took off for a morning in Barcelona, no customs. Upon our return we bypasses the lines to get into the terminal by following returning crew and showing the guard our seapass.

He sent us through the screening for crew and we went back to the gangway where we were sent to the front of the line for pictures on our new seapass.

Everything went as smooth as can be and the staff was superb.

Brenda,I had a B2B on the Brilliance. No problem my cabin steward took care of everything and had all our luggage moved to the new cabin by 9:30am and guest relations had our new sea passes delivered to us.

I've been on B to B's in the same cabin and also in 2 different cabins although close by each other and the move is simple in the morning. You will get a letter and your new Seapasses the night before explaining what you may need to do. Some ships will make you get off ( without luggage ) and go thru customs and reboard and on others you just stay onboard. If you reenter from a US post such as San Juan you should be able to just stay onboard but your luggage never gets off no matter what. Guest Relations/Concierge will provide you with a customs declaration you fill out and give back to them the day before if you can stay on the ship. It's nice to be able to have the same cabin for both cruises but it's really no big deal to switch as long as you are close to the new one. Cabin stewards will stay in the same area so if your new cabin is close you would probably get the same steward. I do not know how other ships do it but on the EX. everything is closed in between cruises as they prepare for new passengers to board so we always throw a couple of bottles of soda in a carry on and books so we have something with us while we wait in one of the lounges or by the pool for the new cabin to be cleaned. :) The cabin decks are a flurry of activity and noise as the stewards clean all the cabins and get them ready so we get out of their way and just find a quiet place to wait. RCCL does have a special dept. that handles B to B just call RCCL and ask for it but I've done B to B's with one booked with TA and other direct and I never bothered calling them and they have always taken care of things on the ship. If you booked with a TA they have to call the B to B dept. for you. Enjoy your B to B:)

thanks, great info. I knew I could count on my fellow CCer's.

We don't plan to get off the ship & do anything between legs. We actually don't plan to get off the ship anywhere, but maybe Ensenada.:D

Hi,

We were on a B2B on the raidiance in Feb. You do not have to take your luggage off the ship. All you need to do is advice your steward on your first day and he will make arrangements with the other steward or if it stays the same one even better. You just have to pack things in drawers. All things hanging in closet will moved by cart. You will receive your new passes the night before already programmed. Clearing customs is a breeze you just get off with a paper saying you are back to back and you will be cleared right through. By 9:00am we had already changed rooms and cleared customs.

Enjoy your cruise!
