TO_HockeyMum Posted March 23, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2008 We're looking to book the Legend of the Seas for August 2009 (Greek/Egypt itinerary), and we have been offered aft balconies (deck 7). We previously had connecting balconies on Deck 7 (7590/7592-July 2007) and loved them. Hubby is worried that it will be noisy in the aft cabins. Any comments?? Thanks!!!! Less foot traffic back there. Take the cabin. :)
Rare silentbob007 Posted March 23, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 23, 2008 I was in 7654 on Grandeur and it was a bit "thumpy" at night when there was something in the lounge below.
J & G Posted March 23, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 23, 2008 Not noisy. Quieter. Less foot traffic back there. Take the cabin. :) We totally agree....if you want quiet, aft is the place to be. Nobody goes back into that area unless they "live" there.....
lablvr2 Posted March 23, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 23, 2008 Aft is definately the place to be - no one goes back there unless they live back there. But please, please - don't spread the word as it will make it harder to secure one of these cabins on my next cruise ;)
TO_HockeyMum Posted March 23, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted March 23, 2008 OK, quiet from foot traffic, but what about ship noise, vibration, etc. Also, what about motion. We didn't feel any mid-ship, will it be different at the back? Then again, how much motion in the Med in August anyways? Thanks!!
frogfuzz Posted March 24, 2008 #7 Share Posted March 24, 2008 We have felt vibrations more in aft cabins. but sooo worth it to us

cruisegirl1 Posted March 24, 2008 #9 Share Posted March 24, 2008 We were in a deck 7 aft (on the Legend) a few years ago. I would grab it. The views were beautiful, the halls are quiet but best is the balcony is about 3 times as deep as a standard balcony. Our room attendant brought us 2 lounge chairs, and with the two regular chairs and coffee table, we still had plenty of room. Enjoy M
fred111 Posted March 24, 2008 #10 Share Posted March 24, 2008 We had an aft cabin in October on the Legend. Grab it quickly!!!
v-dude Posted March 24, 2008 #11 Share Posted March 24, 2008 We had an AFT JS on Legends for our Alaska cruise and have recently booked an AFT JS again for us and another for my brother and DW on Legends for our Med. cruise in July. The size of the balcony is great and the views are wonderful as well. We did not find them to be at all noisy. Take the AFT and enjoy.
pscan5150 Posted March 24, 2008 #12 Share Posted March 24, 2008 Any recommendations for an aft balcony on Freedom class?
cruisegirl1 Posted March 24, 2008 #13 Share Posted March 24, 2008 No recommendation - just keep in mind it is a LONG walk on a Freedom class ship. M

tomko2 Posted March 24, 2008 #15 Share Posted March 24, 2008 We had JS 8084 Aft on the Legend from Rome last August. Huge balcony only problem was with some soot. Need to carefully wipe down chairs and loungers as soot not always very visible against the dark blue fabric on the chairs/lounges. No noise problems and (for us) no vibration problems. Pics in link below. Kathy
LonW Posted March 24, 2008 #16 Share Posted March 24, 2008 Love the corner Aft cabins. :D Could not get one on our upcoming cruise, so we are trying a center hump cabin.
Tim,n,Sue Posted March 29, 2008 #17 Share Posted March 29, 2008 We have been in 2 aft cabins (8094 Rhapsody and 1394 Explorer). We are booked into 2 more aft cabins and they are the best. If you notice any extra vibrations at all they are minimal and we did not notice any noise differences. We sleep at night with balcony door open. The aft rooms are more private and offer views you only see in travel brochures. This is why they go so fast and are so coveted by aft devotees.
