My Time Dining?

Recommended Posts

Are there any reviews of this new service being offered on some of RCCL's ships? I am curious as to the experience and what people think.

BTW - it seems that search doesn't work currently on the site.

Just off the serenade and loved my time dining. You could sit by yourself or with others, if you like you waiter you can request him every night... ours was awesome.

You let them know the day before or in the morning when you will be coming and your table is waiting. If you forget to call its not a problem but you may have a little wait.

I was so happy with this because I like to watch the sunset so early seating is out (too rushed) and late seating is too late.

We made or res for 7.00 and by 9.00 we were in the theatre watching our show. It was perfect. And by the way when we were there they were still ironing out wrinkles since we were in the 2nd week of mytime dining and I saw no wrinkles to be ironed.

I can't wait till it's on all ships. I want it for the exact reason you list. I also hate to rush from a port for early seating.

We missed the dining 3-4 times and had to resort to the buffet for dinner on our last cruise as there was no other options. I know others will say Johnny Rockets but for me that's a lunch stop not dinner and I don't care for the food in the Pay restaurants, as I don't eat beef or seafood.

Can't wait for freestyle on RCI.

Serenade of the Seas has it for now...I was on it the first sailing out of drydock this year...it worked pretty good, but there were a few "wrinkles" in how it was operated, but I'm sure they have worked at it by now

When I made my reservation for August 2009, I asked if they thought that the my time dining would be available then. The RCCL agent said that they are testing it out now on a few select ships, but it has been a huge success and she wouldn't be surprised to see it fleet wide by then.

Which ships currently have My Time? We are going on the Freedom in May and would love it.

Freedom has it. We came back a couple weeks ago, and loved it. We didn't make 'reservations' - we just showed up and they always had a table of 2 for us within 5 minutes.

From Royal Caribbean's website:

Now that you've reserved your cruise, how about enjoying some freedom of choice in your dinner options. On select ships and sailings+, we're featuring My Time DiningSM** in our Main Dining Room.

This great new option allows you more flexibility to plan your daily activities. Want to linger awhile at the pool and catch the day's last rays? No problem. Worked up an appetite on a shore excursion and want to dine early? Done.

Our My Time DiningSM option is all about convenience and flexibility. You can choose to dine between 6:00 and 9:30 pm each evening. For your convenience, we will accept reservations once onboard the ship.

Dinner is served in the Main Dining Room

Same menu as traditional seating

Same impeccable service as traditional seating

Must pre-pay gratuities to participate - this includes tips for your waiter, assistant waiter, head waiter and stateroom attendant

Guests will not receive a table assignment or permanent table mates

You will have the ability to request a certain waiter

My Time Dining waiters share their gratuities amongst the other My Time Dining waiters; feel free to reward your waiter with an extra tip for providing excellent service

You will be seated with the party you arrive with; you can request to be seated with other guests or alone

Once dinner service begins for your table, no additional guests will be seated (to provide you with a smooth, non-disruptive meal)

Reservations are recommended in order to avoid a delay in seating (reservations will be taken once onboard)

When reserving your cruise, you will need to provide your reservation number and the number of guests participating in the My Time DiningSM option

+Available on the Brilliance of the Seas from February 22 - July 18, 2008,

Freedom of the Seas October 15, 2007 - December 28, 2008

and Serenade of the Seas from March 8 - June 7, 2008.

** My Time DiningSM is subject to availability, you must prepay your gratuities to participate, and for group reservations My Time DiningSM is only available for groups of 20 or less.

This thread had some feedback from folks who had acutally tried it on FOS. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=738065 -- particularly from a poster with the screen name of "Hopster." There are links to some other threads I think in this thread. I think the only other ships that were doing a MyTime trial were Serenade and Brilliance.
