New Smoking rules for Qm2

About time and hopefully soon Cunard will take the lead and not allow it anywhere on the ship. Nothing worse than going into a cabin and having to deal with the foul smell of smoke from the previous passengers bad habits.

Actually it sounds like a reasonable compromise to me although I usually smoke on the balcony and not in the cabin, and since we're at the back of the ship, hopefully won't bother anyone, although I'm always open to compromise. In the 2009 brochure on World Voyages it doesn't say that though. It does say to check your daily newsletter for venues and areas for designated smoking.

The new brochure for next years says that smoking will only be allowed in cabins, casino, and on the starboard side of the decks.

So no more smoking in the Golden lion or chart room.

Oh goody!:D

I wonder when the ban will start? It was lovely on Victoria with no smoking.

Added excitement for smokers each morning then - do you think that they will change the venue each day?

Will they state clearly where the smoking areas are or will they just leave clues?!

The system used is similar to a regular call to prayer, although when implemented by Cunard the muezzin just has a hacking cough.

Why would that matter Churchill’s is enclosed just don’t go in.

If you are outside the door in the deck 9 corridor and the door is open you get all the second hand smoke and cancer stuff...

Smoking is allowed on the Victoria in and around the casino.

I know, in a small area, but it was nicer in the other public rooms. Although on QM2 only part of the pub & chart room were smoking areas, the actual smoke doesn't know that:)

Roll on banning smoking full stop, so many people claim to be "considerate smokers" :p it makes you laugh

Since you've never met me, it would be a gross assumption to assume that I am not. Nice to see the anti zealots are across the board. I'm off to the other cruise board where I can get simple answers without being judged for my smoking preferences. Thanks to everyone who answered my original questions.

I am a smoker and seems to me the people that dont smoke take more notice of these threads than any smoker does.

I think they have a problem not the smokers.

I agree with you. I am not a smoker, however, smoke does not bother me. I am affraid that I have been witness to more rude behavior on the part of non-smokers than that of smokers. I have been at table, in a smoking section, having dinner with a table of friends and several people at the table were smokers. During our meal a man and his wife came over and began yelling at us that we were ruining the air for everyone and that we should be ashamed. Throughout our meal they continued to say loud comments and send terrible looks our way. The only person that I was ashamed of was the man and his wife as they were from my country. This was only one example of many.

I think everyone can reach a compromise. Designated smoking areas or rooms is fair for both sides. Smelling smoke can be unpleasant to many people, but smoke in such small amounts for a very limited time I do not believe would have cancerous results.

Now I was in stateroom 9001 (as close as you can get to Churchill's lounge) and never, not one time, did I smell anything offensive and I have a very sensitive nose.

If you possibly think that a whiff of cigar smoke will bother you, then use the port entrance to the Commodore club - that is the non-smoking side anyway.

The problem here is, you can't ask a simple question about smoking policies or places without the non smokers coming out in force to give their opinions and vehenemence (yes, I know that's not spelled correctly) on the subject which had nothing to do with the question at hand. We KNOW how the non smokers feel. No need to keep bashing us with it. If you can't just answer the question, don't respond. Really, how hard should that be?
