Glory VS Dream

I have done some more research on this situation and have found this information: Port Canaveral has 6 terminals but only 3 have a terminal built and are active. Disney has one terminal exclusively. Carnival has one terminal exclusively that they use for their smaller ships(Sensation). RCL and Carnival share one terminal(terminal 10) for their larger ships. From what I understand, only terminal 10 and the Disney terminal can handle the larger ships. Carnival Glory uses terminal 10 for Glory on Saturdays and RCL uses it on Sundays(plus other days during the week). Carnival may have some 1 week cruises that don't leave on Saturday or Sunday and if they do, I am not aware of any. If that is the policy, then it would make sense to move Glory when Dream arrives since there is no room for both on the weekend. Even a Friday depature is not feasible because RCL has terminal 10 on Friday. That may be the basis for all of the speculation about Glory leaving.

I heard that Disney is going to come in with a Bigger ship.. So, PC will have to build a bigger port to accomidate them. Maybe after they get the new termanals done, then they will offer the one Disney has now for the Glory, or something like that..

( Does this make any sence?? Or am I just rambling again???)

In that case, maybe the Glory won't be going anywhere.. But moving Termanals.. That wil be cool too!:D I DO love Carnaval..

Then I found this: http://www.floridatoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080425/BUSINESS/804250330/1086/rss07

Apparently Port Canaveral will be widened and deepened. This is 4 years away so it will have no impact on this Glory/Dream situation but it does show that this port is alive and doing well.

We shalll see.

Mariner is discounted heavily by RCL and so are other cruises out of Port Canaveral. Its much cheaper to cruise out of Florida than other gulf ports with comparable ships.

Id say the chances of the Glory staying there and the Dream coming are awfully slim as there are so many ports that lost the ships when they moved ships around and Princess and RCL moved ships to Europe, leaving a vacuum for Carnival to fill here in the states.

Well, what ever.. As long as we get to Cruise, and Cruise often!:p Personally, I Won't cruise Disney.. And I don't care what size they bring in. If you see me on a Disney Cruise, it will be because I won a cruise.

Disney is the only one I do not like.. And , beleve me, I have my reasons.. LOL;)

I don't have anything against anyone who likes Disney. For the most part, Disney is a great line, just I won't go on one..

Oh well..

Hope this doesn't offend anyone.. That is not my attention for my post.. If I have offended, Sorry!

I live near Port Canaveral and drive by it occassionally to go to work on Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. I also watch the ships come and go from my usual vantage point of the Patrick AFB control tower. 6 "real" ships call PC home; 2 Disney (Wonder and Magic), 2 RCCL (Sovereign and Mariner), and 2 Carnival (Sensation and Glory). I'll leave out the two soon to be three gambling ships that go out twice a day. Sensation has its own pier as far as I know. At least I haven't observed another ship at the pier it uses in a long time. The two Disney ships share a one pier and leave on different days. I don't really pay attention to their schedule because I don't really care to go on that WAY overpriced line. The Glory, the Sovereign, and the Mariner share a pier. Sovereign leaves on Mondays and Fridays, Glory on Saturday, and the Mariner on Sunday. I've also seen another ship on on odd day like Tuesday or Wednesday leaving port. I'm not sure which one it is but I think one NCl ship stops in PC and that might be it. If you google earth the port you'll see the port doesn't seem to have much room to expand a whole lot. Disney is bringing in it's two big new ships in 2011 or around there. The Dream and Freedom of the Seas is coming. All pretty big ships for this little port which I believe is the busiest passenger port in the US due to all the passengers on the twice a day gambling ships. Free cruise, free buffet, and free drinks when you gamble. I'm usually ready to leave after two hours into a 4 hour cruise.

Me either. I don't even go to their parks and we can get in free with some of our family having worked there. I'm sure the cruises are fun but they are way too pricey for me to consider one. $700 for a 3 day cruise to the Bahamas. NO WAY!

I totally agree.. If I had $700 pp to spend, why take a 3 or 4 day on Disney, when for the same money you can get a 7 nighter on Carnaval/ RRCL/ or other ships in the area..

Would never look at a Disney cruise either, but one of the reasons they charge such a high price for their cruises is because they don/t have casino onboard.

I knew they didn't have casinos but I never realized that is why they cost so much more. While I do go to the casino while cruising I would try Disney if it wasn't so overpriced. I've never read much about their cruises but I met someone whose been on a few cruises on various lines including Disney and he said it was great cruise.

I had booked a inside guarantee on Disney for Oct 2008 7 day for $599 pp. I dont consider that to be all that much more than some of the other cruiselines. Folks told me $599 wasnt such a good price because the cost for 3/4 passengers wasnt that low. Often on Disney cruises they charge almost nothing for the additional passengers/children. If you are only looking at the first two passengers $$$$, they do charge a little more.

Disney is higher rated for service and they enforce the rules in their adults only areas, including at their private island where you can order a steak cooked on the BBQ. They also have three dining rooms which you revolve thru during your cruise including the room that goes from B&W to color by the end of the meal and has the fire works on pirate night. I know adults who dressed up for pirates night. We would go but my Dad is so ill we wanted to not go to Florida to cruise this year is why I cancelled. $599 was a pretty good price, but you can often get $699. You almost always gets upgraded on that guarantee too.

Personally, I rather look forward to the Casino's.. Which Disney does not have.. I don't drink, so that is why I Look forward to them. Gives me something else to do besides eating.. ( Which is another favorite past time of mine..)

One that I do rather well!

One of the other reason they charge a higher price is that the demand is very high and they have only two ships. Especially couple with young children love to cruise on Disney.

Have you seen the two new Disney ships as yet? Man are they Huge!

Still wont sail on them..

But, on the other hand, can't wait for the DREAM!! lol

One of the new Disney ships is speculated to be named the Dream, isnt that going to be confusing if there are two ships at the same port named Dream?? lmao. :D

From what I have heard: Disney wants the name Dream, but Carnaval has already copyrighted that name for their new ship.. Although Disney wants to buy that name from them for their new ship..

All in all: If Carnaval allready has the name, why don't Disney use the name DREAMER instead? Wouldn't it still serve the same pourpose?

Let me know what YOU think..

Disney needed to build their ship faster I guess. I was sure surprised by the name on the Carnival ship. Carnival 1, Disney 0. Disney's ship doesnt hit until 2011, 2 more years after CCL's Dream.

There is also a Disney Magic. And CCL is naming of their new ships Magic!!!

Why can't these people come up with original names. Everyone is copying!

Carnival Freedom, Royal Carribbeans Freedom of the Seas ... etc etc etc

Where did you see that CCL is gonna have a new ship called MAGIC??? I haven't heard anything like that..

Also, ( last I knew) Carnaval Freedom, and RCCL's Freedom of the Sea's, are two seprate names.. What other Cruise lines have shared their names??

I heard that often when it comes to naming ships, they spaire NO expence NOT to use a name of ANY existing ship..

BUT: they can use other dirations of the names.

Example: CCL Freedom/ RCCL's Freedom of the Sea's

CCL Dream/ DCL Dreamer

ECT/ECT

Please correct me if I am wrong.. But does this make any sence??:D
