Dubai to Mumbai

Recommended Posts

We were on Oceania from Istanbul to Singapore last fall and on the whole, it was a great cruise.

We had a two day stay in Dubai and that is a facisinating city. There is much to do, guides are quite good but your own personal preferences would dictate what to do....

The sailing to Mumbai was calm and uneventful, but the weather will be warm (and quite humid by the time you get to India). Mumbai (the former Bombay) is a very large city with much congestion. Traffic can be a nightmare - and while local taxis were available, many of the passengers reported getting stranded in heavy traffic and having to walk. The organized tours were a bit better as they seemed to know where the least congestion was.

You'll have a great time! :D

Mumbai takes getting used to. I would start off by taking an organized tour to get a sense of the city.

In terms of the taxis, you have to negotatiate with the drivers up front and be very specific what you want to do. May of them want to take you to all kinds of shops but if that is not what you want you have to be firm before you get into a cab.

There are lots of nice things to see in Mumbai. At the same time around 6 million people live in poverty and I am talking about poverty like you have possibly never seen.
