CruizinCupcake Posted May 18, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2008 We are going on the Voyager of the Seas out of Galveston in Feburary and are looking for a Hotel for the night before the cruise. Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Galvez? Do they offer free parking during your cruise? And do they offer a free shuttle service to the cruise port? Any information about the hotel would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Teresa
MellowMel Posted May 18, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 18, 2008 The Galvez is very nice. You can park your car there for the week and they will shuttle you to the port and pick you up.
Dick in Falls Church Posted May 19, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 19, 2008 We stayed there for a night a few years back. My wife really enjoyed it. Had a very nice dinner (but can't tell you the same chef will be there). Shuttle ran to the cruise terminal--but, depending on number of guests, could take you a while. We flew into Houston, so can't comment on parking. Were we to go out of Galveston again, that would be our hotel of choice.
gary2835 Posted May 19, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 19, 2008 It is a nice hotel, but has small rooms. Parked our car there for the cruise. They had a large bus to take everyone to the ship. It left the hotel at different times, which was nice. They were also waiting to pick you up when you debarked.
ms8654 Posted May 19, 2008 #5 Share Posted May 19, 2008 You can read reviews about the hotel on Trip Advisor www.tripadvisor.com. I have that hotel booked for next February.
Rare Host Kat Posted May 19, 2008 #6 Share Posted May 19, 2008 If you are into ghost stories, ask for room #505. http://www.galvestonghost.com/galvez.html Also, check out the supposedly haunted portrait of Bernardo de Galvez there. http://www.hauntedamericatours.com/museum/hauntedGalvez.htm Kat
CGBCruiser Posted May 20, 2008 #7 Share Posted May 20, 2008 I love the Hotel Galvez! The rooms are smaller because it's an historic hotel. It's a Wyndham property but I think they've worked hard to keep the ambiance of the old hotel. Very nice and relaxing...good choice!! Kat...I'll have to check out the ghost stories. I've never heard about them!!
Rare Host Kat Posted May 20, 2008 #8 Share Posted May 20, 2008 Yep, I've always thought it would be fun to go over there to check it out. Especially on Halloween! I enjoy watching the Lobby Cam http://www.galveston.com/webcams/ with the hustle and bustle on cruise departure days. Makes me even more jealous that I am not going too! robtx100 Posted May 23, 2008 #10 Share Posted May 23, 2008 There is actually a parking garage next door where you park for the week. The shuttle is in front of the hotel and is very convenient.

robtx100 Posted May 30, 2008 #12 Share Posted May 30, 2008 Does anyone know if they offer the complimentary parking even if you book the hotel via the cruiseline? I'm sure they do. They will hang something from the mirror when you check in.
