Restaurant recommendations

We've booked a B&B for 3 nights in early July. If anyone has suggestions for restaurants for 3 nights, it would be greatly appreciated.

We've been there 3 or 4 times on ships, once overnight. We've taken the conch train and walked around Duvall Street.

We'll have time to do the museums and watch the sunset.

Any other suggestions for other things to do would also be appreciated.

We pretty much like any cuisine. We're looking more for quality than quantity. Good steaks, cuban, spanish, oriental (all varieties), italian (north/south), french, jamacian jerk, anything edible.

Like I said - quality.

Sounds like my taste.;) I am sure you will get plenty of suggestions, so here are mine:

Steaks-Michael's http://www.michaelskeywest.com Great food and exemplary service

Cuban-El Siboney http://www.elsiboneyrestaurant.com Best Cuban food on the rock.

Mexican-Salsa Loca http://www.salsalocakeywest.com Cheap but very good and great people

Italian-Antonia's http://www.antoniaskeywest.com Superb Italian cuisine and the service to match

French-Croissants de France http://www.croissantsdefrance.com One of my favorites

Japanese-Ambrosia Japanese foods and sushi recently moved to 1401 Simonton St gets great reviews; but I haven't been there since they moved.

Tapas- 915 http://www.915duval.com One of my haunts along with

Sanitago's Bodega http://www.santiagosbodega.com

Those are just a few of my favorites (along with a lot of locals) and I think you will be pleased with a meal from any of them.

Any questions, just ask. I hope all those links come through okay.

Mike

More ideas.

Lunch: Duffy's, Louis' Backyard, Latitudes Beach Cafe at Sunset Key (you will need to take a free boat over to Sunset Key)

Dinner: Italian higher end--La Trattoria on Duval and Antonia's on Duval

Italian, cheaper--Mangia, Mangia

Eclectic; Louis' Backyard

Latitudes Beach Cafe at Sunset Key ( You will need to take a free boat ride.)

Breakfast: Sarabeth's

Other idea: Stop at a grocery store and make a picnic lunch to take to Fort Zachary Taylor State Park and eat out there. The park has picnic tables and little grills. It also has a snack shop.

As a part time Conch Republic resident, I can recommend lots of places places, but for seafood try Seven Fish (upscale), A & B Lobster House (especially the raw bar), and for great basic seafood like shrimp and stone crab claws, try the Half Shell Raw Bar.

Pepe's is good also, including breakfast.

I just read through this thread, and there are a lot of recommendations. We are only going to be there for the day, we are driving down from Key Largo.

What is one restaurant that we cannot miss when eating lunch in Key West?

We were there about 3 years ago, and there was this one restaurant, (I forget the name of it), but it was either on the corner of, or really close to Duval street (not much info) and it was horrible, both the food and service.

So this time we really want a great restaurant for lunch.

Thanks!

  • 5 weeks later...

Drove down yesterday, easy drive. Staying at the Conch House at 645 Truman. Nice place and room. Ate at Cafe Sole last night. Had the conch carpaccio appetizer. Judy had the scallop specila of the day (large scallops) and I had the award winning hog snapper. Creme Brulee for desert. Everything was excellent.

Renting a scooter car for today and tomorrow. Back won't let me fide a bke and all the trikes are rented. If you want a trike when you're here, call to rent it before you get here.

Is that really expensive and is it kid friendly?

Here (chicago burbs), we have some really nice places, but also some sushi counter type places with plates of Maki for under 7 bucks. If maki plates are over 10 bucks, we can't afford it this time around.
