bionicbeacher Posted May 20, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 20, 2008 Hi Folks ...in the next few months we will be sailing with another couple who are First time cruisers. One of the party is a cigarette smoker. Could you please tell us the basic Policy for smokers on board....Are they able to smoke on their balcony? Are they able to smoke any place outside? We are pretty sure that they are allowed to smoke in the Casino other then designated non smoking tables. Ourselves, we are non smokers and just have never thought about where and when you can smoke on board. Thanks Ken & Jan
chrysalis Posted May 20, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 20, 2008 Balcony and cabin is ok.....pool area opposite side of ship to burger place (you know where I mean:D ) is ok...Casino is ok on smoking nights. Not sure about bars, though. cheers
Atomica Posted May 21, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 21, 2008 Smoking is allowed in certain bars - the only one I know for certain is the Wheelhouse bar. I can't remember seeing anyone lighting up in Crooners or the Explorer's Lounge. In all honesty, the only place I ever noticed people smoking was the casino (though if I was a smoker, I might know more!) When you board, the first day's Princess Patter will have full details of where you can smoke and when. At least one night in the Casino is designated non smoking full-stop; other nights it is allowed in marked sections.
dforeigner Posted May 21, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 21, 2008 A good rule of thumb for the bars is that if they have a live performance going on, smoking will not be allowed.
caribill Posted May 21, 2008 #5 Share Posted May 21, 2008 I can't remember seeing anyone lighting up in Crooners or the Explorer's Lounge. A section of the Explorer's Lounge is usually allocated to smoking. The rest of it is non-smoking. And the Speakeasy Cigar Lounge near the casino is a smoking area. That is sooo awesome that there is such a thing as a smoke free night in the Casino. I have never been able to enjoy the Casino's on my previous Carnival cruises due to the abundance of smoke....Finally!!!:D

I have never been able to enjoy the Casino's on my previous Carnival cruises due to the abundance of smoke....Finally!!!:D On the Diamond Princess, the casino was large enough that they had a non-smoking side with all the same card games etc. In the smoking section, on the 15 day cruise, they had 2 nights that were smoke free, from 6 PM on. Oceans&Rivers Posted June 10, 2008 #12 Share Posted June 10, 2008 I'm just off the Crown Princess. No, smoking is not allowed at MUTS. Thank goodness for THAT. Reading this thread and learning how liberal Princess' policy is with regard to smoking, in general, we are discouraged about booking this ship, even though there is one cruise which fits immediately after another we have booked on Celebrity. What are the chances of Princess getting stricter regarding smoking?

What are the chances of Princess getting stricter regarding smoking? I can't imagine what is liberal about it. People do not smoke in the halls, anyplace you eat, any shows, etc. That limits them to a point it should not bother anyone in the least. Whoops, I forgot about the fanatic's that their whole cruise is ruined because they got a whiff of smoke on the balcony. Really makes you realize that it doesn't take much to ruin someone's cruise.
