barking16 Posted May 25, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 25, 2008 Hi, we are going on the Caribbean Princess in Dec and one of the ladies is about to be a first time grandmother that week. I know there are internet cafe's but are their places in your cabin on own ship if you bring your own wireless laptop?
Pam in CA Posted May 25, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 25, 2008 Hi, we are going on the Caribbean Princess in Dec and one of the ladies is about to be a first time grandmother that week. I know there are internet cafe's but are their places in your cabin on own ship if you bring your own wireless laptop? To my knowledge, no Princess ship has wireless in the cabins. There is wireless in the Atrium, Internet Cafe, buffet area, etc.
paul929207 Posted May 25, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 25, 2008 Suites have wifi connections. Also, if you are using the internet cafe, you cannot open an attachment.
Pam in CA Posted May 25, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 25, 2008 Suites have wifi connections. To clarify, you'd have to have a FULL suite, not a mini-suite. :)
WWCJR Posted May 25, 2008 #5 Share Posted May 25, 2008 Just off of the Caribbean Princess two weeks ago today. and used my own laptop on the cruise. You can sign-up (one time fee of $3.95) for the internet and get package minutes or go on a per minute basis. The packages are: 100 minutes for $55 150 minutes for $75 250 minutes for $100 The per minute rate is $0.75. The $3.95 setup fee is for setting up to use the internet whether it is WiFi or the desktop computers on the ship. The packages and per minute pricing apply to both using the Internet Café computers or your own notebook computer with WiFi. Check the Platter the first day for any Internet Café specials. Usually if you sign up for one of the packages on the first day there is a special where you can receive up to an additional 30 minutes free. Remember the internet is VERY SLOW on ships. It is best to download your email, log-off read your email and write new emails to send, then go back online to send teh mew emails. If you must use a web based email then use copy and paste to save time while online. Below are a couple of links to some of the more useful threads on the subject of the internet and also using your laptop onboard. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=745391 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=743641 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=741883&highlight=internet+café From the Princess web site on Captains Circle benefits: Complimentary Internet Packages Each Platinum Member will receive a credit towards the purchase of a package in our Internet Cafés. $75 for voyages of 7 days or less (equivalent to 150 minute package) $100 for voyages of 8-20 days (equivalent to 250 minute package) $200 for voyages of 21 or more days (equivalent to two 250 minute packages) You can use your credit towards a larger package if necessary, or enjoy all those minutes - compliments of the Princess Captain's Circle! BuzzF117 Posted May 25, 2008 #6 Share Posted May 25, 2008 We were on the Crown in Feb and took the laptop to send emails back and forth with the kids. It went great since my wife would dictate the emails in word and then we would cut and paste into our browser based email account and send our total internet bill for the week was under $10 you couldn't purchase a package for wifi or at least that is what we were told. We just took the laptop down to the Atrium area in the evening and enjoyed the entertainment while sending the email.

jebridan Posted May 27, 2008 #10 Share Posted May 27, 2008 Where do you keep your laptop when you are not using it? It's too big for the safe, correct? Do you just leave it lying in the room? I am so scared it will be stolen!

I am so scared it will be stolen!I kept mine on the table in my cabin as I wasn't nervous about it being stolen. If you are, you can put it in your luggage under the bed and lock it when you're not using it.
