Help With Photoshop

Is there anyone out there who could give me a hand with photoshop. I have a picture of my niece's H.S. graduation. My brother took it withn older kodak 5mp digital at maxed digital zoom. The picture is fairly dark and with my limited knowledge of photoshop, I can't seem to be able to tweek it enough. If you can help, I'd like to email you the picture.
