Have been on HAL and RCCL, this is a first, I work at a casino and they are paying for all their employees a 4 day cruise. Cant wait. Can anyone tell me, is there any difference than the two cruise lines I have been on before? Staterooms, big or small, we have an oceanview, what can you tell me? Thank you for any info.

Which Carnival ship are you sailing on...If it's a 4 day it's prob an older ship..There are really a different set of passengers from HAL but not much different from RCCL...The Carnival passengers are more laid back and like to have a good time..I've never been on HAL but I've heard that it's a lot of older cruisers that go to bed about 10:00, things are just starting on Carnival about then...Just go with an open mind to have a good time and you will be fine.....The size of the rooms are about the same as RCCL but we never spend much time in our rooom anyway, we are out having fun......Dennis

Going on the Imagination

That should be a treat, that ship has the new evolutions of fun and a dry dock recently.

They redid all the pool area and new slides. Its supposed to be really great, cost several million to redo.

Congrats on a free cruise!!!!

I have only sailed Carnival so I can't compare....but it is a FREE CRUISE...so that is sweet in and of itself!!

The Imagination is 70,000 tons. I don't know the size of the other ships you have sailed. The staterooms are a comfortable size. Nice bedding.

There is a small adult serendity area all the way Aft on the deck beneath Lido.

Two hot tubs. You can walk through Lido and down the stairs.

The food will be good. Not 5 star, but like an Applebee's or Chili's (both of which I love)

There will be karaoke every night. (another favorite of mine)

There will be a piano bar by the center restaurant.

A soloist playing on the Promenade by the casino.

A cover band in a small lounge on the Promenade.

Also there is a disco...so lots of dancing and music!

Hope you have a wonderful time.

I think the food is substantially better than Applebee's and Chili's...

They're not serving riblets on Carnival. :D I agree that the food is substantially better on Carnival. I'm not crazy about the breakfast buffet. But everything else is pretty good.

The decor is much different on Carnival than on HAL and RCI, but you can google pics of the ships and see that. Keep in mind that CCL ships just don't look as good in pics as in person. HAL and RCI ships fare much better in pics.

HAL's crowd is older because they don't cater to kids at all. RCI has the same kind of mix as CCL. It really depends on what RCI ship you've sailed as to how the CCL ship will compare. If you've been on Voyager Class ships, well, they are spectacular in comparison, but CCL is very comfortable and your cruise is FREE. It's hard to complain about that price.

We prefer RCI Voyager Class ships - no competition, but the price/value of CCL can't be ignored. We can have fun on either line.

All of Carnival's current fleet (Fantasy Class, Spirit Class, Conquest Class) have standard staterooms (inside and oceanview) of 185 sq feet. RCCL's standard stateroom's average 160 sq feet with their older ships down to a very compact 130 sq feet. So you will enjoy the roominess of a larger standard stateroom on Carnival.
