F3 Reveal?

Recommended Posts

That's true. But I think that the "no maing dining room" can be a PR trick or just a wordgame. Instead of one or two DR's they'll have five of them. A bit smaller. Just in different places. Like outdoors. Or something.

I hope so! But at this point I wouldn't be running to Vegas to place a bet on it ;)

Good point, I really do not think every eatery will have a charge. Oh, as for attracting the "Carnival" crowd, I really don't think so. I get the feeling F3 are going to be very upscale. Yes, there will be the "night club" atmosphere and yet it sounds like this venture will be very different than any we have seen in the past. I for one, will be anxious to give the class a try. If I don't like what they offer or if the price is out of sink then it is back to the Jewel class for us.

Isn't it amazing that just a few years ago a 90K+ Ton ships was considered a MegaShip?

Just think about how the ships will look like in, say, 15 years.

But on the RCI press conference today their CEO said that there will probably never ever be a ship built that's bigger then the Oasis OTS.

But on the other hand, HAL's newest ship, Eurodam, delivered this summer, is actually smaller then the Jewel/Dawn.

BTW, about the size of the ships. I'm not sure I like the new, huge ones. I think it's quite nice to learn the crews and other passengers faces. Which is doable on the Jewel class. But I guess not on the bigger ships.

Just think about the bingo games;)

The F3 will accomodate about twice as many people as the Jewel class. But I can't imagine that there will be twice as much pool space, twice as many poker tables and so on...

And as Nita wrote, this feels upscale. Now NCL has a huge job ahead of them to let the people know that this actually is a quality product. Just read here on CC, people (that surely never cruised NCL) seem to belive that NCL is a mix between McDonalds and a eastern european motel.

BTW, any new exterior pictures? The ones that are out now are not that pretty, so to speak..

They're not going after the Carnival Bucket of Beer type crowd with these clubs. This is more geared towards the people who don't mind paying $30.00 or more for one drink type crowd.

and wouldn't any cruise line love to have a ship full of that type.

Roxette brings up a good point: NCLs job, now, will be to convince the public NCL isn't "Motel 6". I thought the Jewel class would be able to build the reputation, but it just doesn't seem to be the case. You would think when people see what the ships have to offer it would be clear, the line isn't budget by anymeans. Of course the rack rate isn't all that high, and yet, we have often seen where NCls prices are as high or higher than say, Celebrity. Of course there (Celebrity) is an example of a line, that I happen to feel is living on their old reputataion. This isn't meant to knock the line, but I certainly do not think they offer the product they did 3,5 or 10 years ago.

Actually, NCL was not the cruise line that I thought of as Motel 6. Far from it. Even in their lean days.

Hello, Monte, Ute_Fan and Mary. See you onboard the Gem, Jade, Pearl, Jewel, Dawn, Star, Spirit or Sun! We can set up an OLD FARTS group cruise!

I think I see my name in there, but not certain...could you please repost that with a larger font? At my age I need all the help I can get, plus the smell from the BenGay I put on earlier has made my eyes water. But it does reminds me of the home I was in before the kids took me out-Aw the memories! Well-I'm off to spread some moth balls in the closet!

What's a "larger font" mean? You know us old folks don't know all that newfangled language. :p

I don't know, some of the guys in the picture look pretty nice too :D .

How come none of these people are ever on any cruise I take? Most of my fellow cruisers join me in looking like we've made too many trips to the buffet. Maybe that's why the F3 ships won't have main dining rooms. If the passengers are all supposed to look like that, they won't need anything more than a salad bar!

By the way, sign me up for the "old folks" cruise. Wouldn't we have a great time together??

I still think I'll pass on the F3s.

Oh, boy! ANOTHER nightclub  ho-hum.

If they are going to charge a cover, then at least have LIVE bands. Seems the cruiselines are getting away from real entertainment and sitting the kids (us!) in front of the television sets. I thought we determined that wasn't the best thing for them, so how can they be good for us :p ?

Hubby and I (50 and 44) aren't into the heavy drinking, dancing, clubbing scene.

Is there room for a couple more geezers on the Old Farts At Sea cruise??? :D

You have something there. But even the folks in the old pictures from the Norway looked different the people I met onboard. :D

Halleluiah! Praise to the Lord! My two loves combined into one; cruising and clubbing! I am 44 and I love what I just read regarding F3 plans. I usually book a new ship when she is a year or two old...however, I do not think I can wait that long with this rollout. Have I died and gone to heaven?

Coming full circle, that's part of the reason that I wasn't excited about cruising in the first place. I think I really expected, after looking at the marketing literature, that most of the people would look more like the "beautiful people" and that my middle-aged, extra-fluffy shape would feel out of place. You mean you can't always believe the marketing literature :D ?

Azure Moon -- you're certainly willing to join our "old farts" cruise. The more, the merrier -- at least until we all fall asleep!

ROTFLMtushyO! That's how I felt too after looking at the brochures. It sure does add stress. Possibly one reason we see so many clothing questions.

Thank you! LOL! My hubby has everyone beat, takes a couple naps during the day and can be out like a light within 15 minutes following the evening theater performance   .
