Delta Airline Surcharge for Award Tickets

Just received an email from Delta stating that in Aug they will add a fuel surcharge to award ticket travel. $25 for conus and $50 for Int'l. Here's the kicker. I am cruising out of Europe next May. I can't book until 331 days out. Last month the roundtrip price on Delta was $840. CVG-LGW. This month the same ticket is $1257. That's a big fuel surcharge.

I understand your frustration - I just booked 2 coach, one way FF Delta tickets from Heathrow to LAX for May 2009, used 100,000 miles and it still cost me $295 per ticket for 'fees', which includes internet booking fee, using a partner airlines (Air France), fuel surcharge, 9-11 fee, etc, etc....so those free tickets are not exactly free anymore - but beats the more than double the price I would have had to pay outright.... Or so I keep telling myself:o
