haligonian37 Posted July 7, 2008 #426 Share Posted July 7, 2008 I've been looking forward to reading all of the "live from" threads as I may be booking a cruise on her for next year and all of the writing styles, while vastly different, are all very interesting. I, for one, sort through all of the "other" stuff by searching for the OP's posts and just reading those. People will always get their knickers in a knot for various reasons (valid or not) but I find it's much easier to not even "go there". All of the CCers posting on board are taking time (and money) out of their vacation to give us a first hand account of the ship and the daily goings-on and I appreciate every post. HeatherInFlorida Posted July 7, 2008 #428 Share Posted July 7, 2008 ..................1. Yes. Scotty jumped up, did a twist, hit his head on the ceiling, and jumped down. 2. Brian, not to be out-done, did the same thing. ................ Okay, good. At least my ability to read is still intact:D . Just to clarify .... I NEVER said there was anything wrong with them doing it, I only said that Greg posted that they did. All is good fun from my point of view. Great to hear from you again, Greg! Things go a little nutty here when you're gone;) .
thomasale Posted July 7, 2008 #429 Share Posted July 7, 2008 Rev Neal these posts are the greatest. It has brought me back to the HAL pages and although there is still some of the stuffiness not found elsewhere, it is your style (along with many of the onboard contributors) that keep us all coming back for more. Although I wouldn't blame you if you decided otherwise, I do hope you keep posting. This has been mild compared to your last trip with the shorts picture!!! :)
MrsMuir Posted July 7, 2008 #430 Share Posted July 7, 2008 Rev Neal, thank you for your photos and your crystal-clear descriptions (or should I have said HAL-clear?) of Eurodam. I'd love to be aboard with you and Brian and Scotty and John and Maria and everyone else in our online family. I could be walking in the sunshine right now on my lunch hour, but I stayed in to read your latest reports. I hope your formal night is memorable, and that all the bugs were worked out regarding the dinner seating. I'm sorry to hear about the Explorations Cafe being moved to the Crow's Nest. Cuttle Posted July 7, 2008 #431 Share Posted July 7, 2008 Please "keep on posting". Your descriptions and replies to the many requests are very interesting. First thing I do in a morning is to check for messages from the Eurodam. Keep up the good work. It is appreciated.
innlady1 Posted July 7, 2008 #432 Share Posted July 7, 2008 Thank you, Greg, for such a wonderful report. From my end, just looking at the photos, I'm inclined to agree about the cabanas on the Observation Deck vs. the ones on the Lido. We, too, love the Explorations Cafe on the Noordam (I hope they don't move that one!), it's such a comfortable, cozy place...I don't think I'd like it much up on Deck 10. Something I wonder about: On rough sea days, it's going to be difficult, if not impossible, for someone to read up there or use the computers. Located lower on the ship, on Deck 3, makes much more sense from that aspect. Sorry for all the dining room issues...hopefully they're all sorted out by tonight and that your group can enjoy an evening together. Oslo is a wonderful city...sorry it rained the entire day. Isn't Vigeland Sculpture Park incredible? I love Oslo and Bergen...some wonderful memories of my Scandinavian trip with my mom and sister. Looking forward to your next installment! RevNeal Posted July 7, 2008 Author #438 Share Posted July 7, 2008 Great work as always, Greg! Love reading your posts. You know *someone* is always looking for a reason to criticize. I am glad you put it to rest. Carry on!!! Thank you! :D Yes Yes ... I know. :D We had a GOOD laugh about the nonsense tonight in the Ocean Bar. RevNeal Posted July 7, 2008 Author #439 Share Posted July 7, 2008 Thanks for your reporting. I am looking forward to your pictures as well. Is the casino crowded? I would be interested to know the limits on the tables (particularly the craps and roulettes) table: Minimum bet $5? $10? or more? Thank you. Sorry ... but I've not been in the Casino for anything more than a quick look-see. I've been THROUGH the Casino several times, but otherwise I've not made any contributions to their retirement fund. Oh ... I noticed that they now have a method for crediting your account with your winnings by cashing out to your ship's account. Neat trick. No coins ... or, at least, I didn't hear/notice any tonight going from the Piano Bar to the Northern Lights and back again. The place didn't look too crowded, either. RevNeal Posted July 7, 2008 Author #440 Share Posted July 7, 2008 You have no idea how many broken-hearted CCers there would be if you stopped giving us our fix. You have a duty to continue your "Live From" thread if only for the greater good! Your friends and fans are counting on you! Thank you, Michael! :D As I've said already, we had a great big laugh about it all tonight during cocktails at the Ocean Bar. Still, it is up to all of you. I have photos to link, and I planned to do it tonight before going to sleep. So ... we'll see.
Nghthawke Posted July 7, 2008 #441 Share Posted July 7, 2008 What strikes me as interesting here is that many find it acceptable that two people jumped up on brand new tables that probably were not intended for such behavior . . .I read in one of the Eurodam threads that the tables in Northern Lights are concrete topped-tables so I don't believe that any real damage could be done. Nghthawke Posted July 7, 2008 #443 Share Posted July 7, 2008 4. The tables are made out of stone and bolted to the floor. No harm could possibly have been done. Yup. There we go. Thought I had read that somewhere, was it in Copper's thread?

Cruisinetta Posted July 7, 2008 #445 Share Posted July 7, 2008 Hey Rev, who is the DJ? DJ Matt told me it might be him. Is it? Or Jazzy? Is Jazzy onboard? And could you include a pic of the aft pool maybe take the pic from the back of the ship towards the front? I plan on building an Edam for my cruise in October and would like to have some type of plan ready for that portion of the ship. Thanks and keep 'em comin'. :)
RevNeal Posted July 7, 2008 Author #446 Share Posted July 7, 2008 Two more photos from the Cruise Critic Meet and Greet! Brian and Scotty measure the balcony of a VT-category ("Very tiny") cabin, just abaft the Crows Nest.

RevNeal Posted July 7, 2008 Author #448 Share Posted July 7, 2008 Design flaws are not always apparent while the ships is being built. Today, we discovered one that "looks" lovely, but is practically a broken neck, knee, hip waiting to happen. The above photos document the problem. It's a STEP up from the deck to the seating area in the Lido. There is no ramp, like on the Vistas, to reach the level ... it's a STEP. When one approaches it with one's tray, one cannot see it. AND, even when one isn't carrying a tray full of food one finds it hard to see the step because the wood flooring, while lovely, camouflages it. This step is found at both entrances to the center/forward sitting area of the Lido deck dining room. Today, 4 people tripped on it: (1) RuthC, (2) RevNeal, (3) a ship's entertainer -- not part of the act! -- (4) a steward carrying someone's tray. A ramp needs to be installed. That, or some kind of warning to alert people to this step and keep folk from stumbling over it and falling flat on their faces ... as I nearly did. Krazy Kruizers Posted July 7, 2008 #449 Share Posted July 7, 2008 11:30 am - 1 pm ... Reservation required. No charge for Lunch 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm ... Reservation required. $15 pp charge Yes ... tables for 4 that can be used by 2. 10 am - close Slightly larger than the Noordam, but not by much. About half a foot. The retrofit of the other Vistas is bringing their aft pool deck size up to about the same size as the Noordam. It doesn't off-set the table space issue, since most of this pace is lounger space. Yes. 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm Reservations required. No Charge. Currently, Shane Michaels Oosterdam. Before that, Rotterdam. Movies. Pinnacle :D Now THAT's a "Mission Accomplished" !!!! :D Thank you Greg!! You did an excellent job on your mission!! We love the idea that we can go to the Pinnacle for breakfast rather than the King's Room. Certainly hope that doesn't change. On the Vista class ships we had a hard time getting a table for 2 by the windows at the Pinnacle. Hope we can get a table for 2 by the windows at the Tamarind. You have been a great help as I shall be passing on this information to a friend who will be on the Eurodram in September. Thank YOU!!!
RevNeal Posted July 7, 2008 Author #450 Share Posted July 7, 2008 Hey Rev, who is the DJ? DJ Matt told me it might be him. Is it? Or Jazzy? Is Jazzy onboard? And could you include a pic of the aft pool maybe take the pic from the back of the ship towards the front? I plan on building an Edam for my cruise in October and would like to have some type of plan ready for that portion of the ship. Thanks and keep 'em comin'. :) As I responded earlier today, the DJ is neither Matt nor Jazzy Jeff. It's Glenn. I've had him before as DJ, and he's a lot of fun. As for the aft deck picture, I've not taken one but I shall do so, and from the orientation you mention, so-as to help you out. When I get that shot I'll post it here.
