Solstice Preview Tomorrow (July 8th) in Miami

Host Anne

Here's news for the Martini Mates. I have confirmed that Sudi will be in the Solstice martini bar.

I got to sample a new drink called Eureka. :) The multiple cruiselines have a contest each year to come up with new drinks. This year Celebrity won with the Eureka.

I'm trying to work on pictures (while Mike is still at work), and I'll have them up in some form very soon.

They did say that there will be a couple of two night cruises, but they will be by invitation only so I'm not getting my hopes up.

This could be old news, but they did say that Simon Weir (sp) as Hotel Director and Nick Weir as Cruise Director will be the first brother team on a ship. The one thing that was very obvious about everything we saw was that the Solstice will be one Classy Ship. I am definitely more anxious (as if that was possible) than ever to get on board the Solstice; but I have to wait till March. :(

Why would you be underwhelmed?

You can spend your money: in the on-board shops, on botox, on a "solstice" diamond and in a state-of-the-art casino. Fascinating event so far....;)

I was kinda hoping for a Concierge Club, or equivalent. We really enjoy the pre-dinner gatherings on RCCL ships in the Concierge Lounge and/or Diamond Lounge.

Without question, the Concierge Lounge was our favourite part of our Serenade of the Seas experience!!

Hi!

Dan Hanrahan did not talk itineraries, but did confirm that there will be four two-night pre-inaugurals in early November -- by invite only.

Melissa

Was anything mentioned about Solstice and her pre inaugral tours and the ports she will visit before her maiden voyage on 23 Nov ????:)

What did you think of the Eureka? I really love it! It was indeed a winner in the Third Annual BACARDI Cruise Competition this year, which is open to bartenders and chefs from all cruise and ferry lines; I was invited to represent Cruise Critic as a VIP judge -- and that was one of my favorite recipes.

Melissa,

Carol actually gave it to me after she took a sip. ;) It was quite good. I will get another one in March.

Hi, I specifically asked that question and yes, there will

probably be a couple of "Pre-Inaugurals".

Hi Mike, so nice to meet you and Carol:)

Mike, you tease...work can wait. ;) :D Seriously - thanks for the preview of the info. We're eager for more!

Hi Wolfie, good to see you. They gave us samples of stuff too.

A very nice tote bag (better than any I have ever received

before) ...off white with blue lettering in a very sturdy canvas.

It zips across the top and feels quite strong.

A new mouse pad, water bottle, new toiletries..from what

I was told they are moving away from Elemis and having their

own brand for the cabins.

The Eureka is rum based (I think) I do know it had basil in it and was

not my choice. I loved the Solstice Martini though:)

Vodka, white cranberry and blueberries (fresh ones)

Some of you are lucky folks. We are Celebrity Elite status (with 4 more weeks of cruising booked with "X" right now). We live in Central Florida and were born here. We didn't get an invitation.

I wonder what you have to do to be considered worthy of an invitation? We always had inside rooms on celebrity, maybe that's why?

I hope everyone who is fortunate enough to be invited has a great time.

Ken

Hi Ken, I always have an inside cabin.....and was totally surprised

to receive an invitation.

I guess they only had so many spots........

Lois - thanks. that is good news. Ooh - I wish they would do a mousepad for Captains Club goodies - that would be greatness.

Wolfie, I was told by one of the HQ guys they will be doing something

to Capt's Club starting next month.

He would not say what is going to happen but sounds like

enhancements are coming.

I couldn't get him to say what it is....although

I tried. I guess its still on the QT.

Please find out what meals will be served in the specialty restaurants. I'm really interested in Blu's schedule, but also whether the others will be open for breakfast and/or lunch. Thanks and have a great time! :D

Somebody did ask about the meals in Blu....If I recall, Dinner

and probably breakfast but from what I heard, no lunch.

I found this today after I read about the diamond.

It is an article about the diamond

http://www.nationaljewelernetwork.com/njn/content_display/diamonds/e3i21c2a612a4549e5b653f48c0624e7d5d

They had the diamond in a case and a small pair of diamond

studs (earrings;) ) next to the big one.

A guy in a suit never moved from that spot......

Posts from the early session should be coming along soon! Wonder if they mentiond the revised dress code--jeans now permitted!

I don't recall anyone asking any dress code questions at all.

Maybe people did it one to one but after Hanrahan spoke he

asked if anyone had questions......nobody posed anything

about the dress code.

The food and drink samples were great! There really wasn't much information provided. Host Anne was asking a bunch of questions, so since I have a lot of work to catch up on here at work, because I played hooky for a few hours, I can't spend much time on CC. I did ask Simon Weir about the aft cabin balconies. He said that he thought they were the same as the other balconies. He kind of thought about it again and said he would check to make sure and get back to me. We took a lot of pictures of restaurant menus and place settings. It does look quite elegant.

Hi Mike..the food was wonderful:D and I agree, they gave

out information but not a whole lot of it;)

They had tables set up with food AND had waiters passing

food too.

They had Gelato and it was sooooooo good.

They had savory and sweet....served food from Silk Harvest

that was yummy!

They made crepes for you, sweet dessert ones and savory

beef and chicken.

They had all sorts of desserts on the Sweet tooth table too.:)

Thanks, I know Host Anne has a lot of stuff but she is working

tonite.

I am guessing tomorrow she will be posting her findings:)

Oh, someone did ask about the size of closet space. The

answer was there will probably be the same amount of closet

but more drawer space.
