Strange arrangements by X for Lima

As part of our grand tour of South America , we decided to include the Machu Picchu add on to our xpedition Galapagos cruise.

Celebrity's information for this day reads as follows;

Thu, Jan 15

Cusco/Lima, Peru Buffet breakfast. Transfer to the airport to take your flight back to Lima. Once in Lima you will receive a day room or full day at Country Club Hotel (depending on flight schedule). Introductory city tour of colonial Lima, including San Francisco Cathedral and modern Lima. Continue to a Restaurant for dinner including a half of bottle of wine. In the evening, return to hotel or transfer to airport. If staying overnight, transfers and breakfast is included.

So I figured that was a good deal , overnight in Lima and fly out early next morning to Santiago .. all included in the Celebrity package.

Well it isn't... The room itself for that night is not included.

If you can't afford the room . you get to go out for dinner ,returned to the hotel, check out to sleep on the sidewalk , then check back in for breakfast and the airport transfer...

What a hoot .. just imagine the consternation as you attempted to wheel your luggage out to the front gate to actually camp there.

I'm now waiting with a sardonic smile for the room rate quote......

The package includes a day room for you. This is quite common in Lima as most, if not all, flights to the US leave in the late evening. I think we flew out at about 11 pm.

The package is geared toward US based customers returning to the US, not continuing to Santiago.

BTW, the LAN flight from the US to Lima that arrives in Lima in the evening continues on to Santiago. Maybe you could get on that flight if you don't want to pay for a night in Lima.

(We did enjoy our dayroom as a place to lay down and take a nap before the long flight home.)
