Fuel supplement optional?

Its optional if they raise it lol. RCL is now at what $10 pp, so it keeps going up. If you find a lower price on your cruise, instead of just getting the difference, you will now get the difference, minus the current fuel surcharge which may be higher than when you booked.

As the other posters have stated, the fuel charge is not optional. However once you book, they cannot raise it for you. They can raise it for others that book after they announce the increased price. When you book a cruise, you enter into a contract with the cruise line with all the deliverables, costs and penalties defined.

We booked on the VOS (RCCL) before they announced any "optional fuel charge". They announced the charge and made us pay it. Many thanks to the FL Attorney General who reminded RCCL about contract law and increasing fees after it was signed. RCCL judiciously decided to give us the money back since it was not in our original contract. :D
