Alaska Cruisetour Question

Comparing 2 Cruisetour with Celebrity next year, would you spend your extra time in Denali or Talkeetna? Tour #4 spends a morning in Denali and Tour #8 spends a morning in Talkeetna. Also Tour #8 you train in and out of Denali and fly home from Fairbanks, Tour #4 you ride the train from Talkeetna to Anchorage and then fly home. Thanks for any advice.

Denali is where you want to be - and you need 2 nights there so you can take a bus deep into the park (8+ hours needed). We had superb weather fr our park trip 2 days ago - http://www.explorenorth.com/wordpress/?p=258 - with several grizzlies for company :)

Agree 100% with Yukon...do a tour that does two night in Denali...ours did only one and we made the best of it, but did not have enough time in Denali...Talkeetna is OK-cute, but there is not much to do unless you are going to do an excursion. We had lunch and walked around-plenty of time. Our tour was with Princess so the lodge was an hour from there.

 

Our tour had train from Anchorage to Talkeetna, train from Talkeetna to Denali (that train had MUCH prettier scenery than the one from Anchorage) then bus to Fairbanks and then they flew us back to Anchorage. This worked out well. Everything perfect, but not enough time in Denali.

need two nights denali.. i loved talkeena but 3 hours or so with lunch is enough

We are doing Celebrity CruiseTour #1 in August. Fly into Fairbanks, spend one night, then on to Denali for 2 nights and one night in Anchorage and then on to Seward to board the ship. The primary reason we chose this particular route was the time in Denali. As our traveling companions said, how can we go to Alaska and not spend our time in Denali?
