mbmadeline Posted July 30, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2008 We will be leaving on a cruise this weekend. I keep reading how you are able to get great cruise pricing if you book your next cruise before leaving the current one. But you also mention some great cruise discount travel sites in your postings. Would I get a better price by booking on this cruise ...or waiting and checking out pricing from some of these discount cruise sites.
ovccruiser Posted July 30, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 30, 2008 It depends on the cruise line. I cruise in the main on Cunard, and cruises booked whilst on a cruise usually attract on board credit or some other promotional offer. I checked out with my TA who said they can then take over the booking and you will get their promotional bit as well.
GORDONCHICK Posted July 30, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 30, 2008 I depends on several factors. Some lines give a better deal when you book while on board than others. Sometimes, a good deal can be had by just shopping around. The time of year you want to go, the type of cabin you want (and even location), etc are some other things that impact when you get good deals. If you have great flexibilty on when you can cruise/travel, there are some great deals for last minute bookings. However, you rarely get a good cabin location. There are some lines that no longer book future cruises on board. NCL is an example. However, NCL does have a deal where you pay $250 during your cruise as a future cruise deposit. If you purchase the future cruise deposit package you get on board credit for the cruise you are on. When you are ready to book your next cruise the $250 paid is your total deposit on that next cruise. Dianne
Krazy Kruizers Posted July 30, 2008 #5 Share Posted July 30, 2008 On HAL We do book future cruises while we are cruising. The deposit is $100 per person. Don't get a real big discount on that future cruise. But we do get shipboard credit.
fiveparty Posted July 30, 2008 #6 Share Posted July 30, 2008 If you do get a shipboard credit on a cruise you're on but then when you get back home you decide to cancel (for whatever reason) - do you have to pay back the credit they gave you or do they keep your deposit? If your going on RCCL, purchase a "Next Cruise" certificate for $200 while you are on board. You will receive a $50 - $200 on board credit & you can decide which cruise you want to book after you get home.
