Which would you choose?

We are thinking of doing a Panama Canal cruise in Jan or Feb. 2010. It appears that the two ships that will be doing that route are the Ryndam and Statendam. I know nothing about either of these ships and since the date or embarkation is not important (Ft. Lauderdale or San Diego) we would like to choose the right ship for the journey.

I am interested in the pros and cons of both these vessels.

The Ryndam and the Statendam are sister ships. I have been on both and found no problems with either.

We have also sailed on the Ryndam and the Statendam.

 

There is just something that we like more about the Ryndam -- have sailed on her quite a few times.

The only major difference between these two ships, besides the interior "theme", is that Statendam, the lead ship of the "S" class, joined the line in 1993 and Ryndam, the third ship of the class, in 1994

We've never been on the Ryndam, but we found very little difference between the Statendam and Veendam. One thing that you might consider is that the Ryndam will be going into drydock right after it reaches the East Coast, while the Statendam had its last drydock just last Sep.

To me it's a toss up...6 of one, half dozen of the other. You'll have a great cruise regardless of which one you choose.

I Agree With Others... Both Are Great Ships. Have Been On The Statendam Twice And The Ryndam Once. Will Be On The Ryndam Again October 12. To Mexico.

Being they are sister ships, your not going to find any difference except in decor. We have traveled many times on both and think their both great ships. At one time I had a preference of the Statendam over the Ryndam but it was more about the crew they were carring, certainly not the ship.
