Private tours vs Princess tours?

On same trip we went asore at Lahina, tendered, did as we wanted and retendered to sip, shortly after our return the wind came up and all tendereing was stopped. People especially those off on independant tours had an awful time getting back, the sea was very rough and some tenders were unable to dock for a long time so the boats just bounced around out there. We watched safely from our balcony.

That happened to us too a couple of years ago in Lahaina. It was a gorgeous day disembarking the ship but by 3PM, there were National Weather Service Severe Storm Warnings that hit at about 3:15, just after I boarded the tender and it left the dock. We were literally going up, over and into troughs of waves like a wicked roller coaster and many, many people on the tender were sick, including some of the crew. We tried to keep the tender as closed as possible but it got so stuffy and smelly we had to open up some vents. When we did that, everyone got soaked to the skin from the driving rain and sea spray. We couldn't go back to the dock and had to rough it out for 90 minutes while the ship pulled up anchor, turned around and provided protection for us to embark the ship. It didn't bother me but a lot of people were extremely upset.

ships tours do have that comfort factor. if there is a missed port or a delay those with princess tours get refunds.
