Came across this in the review section of this website, looks like the PS is having a refurb.

Pacific Sun Review - First Glimpse

Editor's Note: From August 30 to September 13, Pacific Sun will be in dry dock in Brisbane for an extensive refurbishment. The multi-million dollar refit will include:

star2.bmpThe exterior of the ship will be given a new look -- Pacific Sun will be painted all white to match its sister ship, Pacific Dawn.

star2.bmpThe top sun deck will become an adults-only Oasis spa area which will be complete with chocolate brown wicker beds, lounges, ottomans and a new whirlpool.

star2.bmpA new ocean-view gym area will be built on Deck 10 and the present gym will become a relaxation room for the ship's Lotus Spa.

star2.bmpThe library will be refurbished, and will be transformed into a steakhouse to offer guests more of an intimate dining experience.

star2.bmpNo ship is complete now without a good coffee bar -- Pacific Sun's will come in the form of a dedicated coffee shop, the Outback Bar.

Just got off last monday. It sure needs a face lift as it is getting very tired. I honestly think it should be replaced with a newer ship. Just my opinion for what it's worth.

Trouble is it would cost more to cruise if and when they do.

Good to see that they will put a spa on the Adult only sun deck though.

The outback bar and lounge area is already the coffee area?? so i cant see any difference as most of what is served there is coffee until the early hours of the morning when it is used as a bar when the others close.

Moving the steakhouse down to the library is a major mistake as it is making use already of the buffet cooking area and serving area.I would be interested to see the relocation of a well presented library that already exists, the library is well presented and is very far from needing redoing.

I wouldnt have even thought of another trip on the sun without all the planned refurbishments. The sun has deffinately seen better days although some on here are happy with it. Luckily squirrel and I will be some of the first ones to see its new look and will be sure to give an honest opinion. I think both the good and the bad need to be mentioned otherwise some may be expecting some glorious luxury vessel and be sadly disappointed:eek: bad me... but then you can always count on a completely unbiased honest opinion

Icy:D

And the one thing that really need's refurbishing isn't being done - and that's the Atlantis Show Lounge. It really needs some work to try and reduce the amount of obstructed view, and make it a little less Las Vegas Casino.

I loved the library. (shows what a social animal I am.....NOT.....:D )

How dare they mess with it.

The oasis top deck sounds the go, though.

Hey Jen, maybe you and squirrel can toss the seahorses overboard yourselves when you get to the islands and use them as surfboards. I can see it now........ :p

Where is the library going?

I have the impression that the room will be a library during the day and be 'transformed into a steak house' in the evening. Pity. In the evenings there were quite a few people playing cards or board games. Others would sit for a while to fill in time before or after a show. Wonder if the computers will be kept in a sectioned off area or whether people having a steak dinner will be watching people checking their emails. Interesting.:)
